Humbly and respectively with the blessings of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodoros II. Last month and this month, a lot of activities have taken place such as baptisms, weddings, Ordinations, camping’s and football matches. Please find the attached photos of the above activities. The climax of all these activities will be on the 14th September 2014 with the ordinations of the Priest and Deacon which will take place in Rwanda. This will be a historical moment of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa. It will be the first Ordination on the land and the soil of Rwanda. Please keep us in your prayers.

By grace of God, St. Alexios charitable association visited Burundi for a second missionary campaign. In this trip participated members of the young adult ministry of St. Demetrios Loumpardiaris, Athens, as well as Fr. Michael Papanicolaou, a priest of the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias. Our main aim was to support bishop Innocentios in his difficult work for sharing of the Gospel and spread of Orthodoxy in this distant African country. During our stay there, visits were made to the villages, games were organized for children, groups of catechumens and faithful were taught, conversations with the inhabitants took place, 27 baptisms and 3 weddings of indigenous people were conducted.
In Buramata, a village that greatly suffered during the Civil War, in the place where the state created a refugee camp and where lies St. Alexios’s church, we organized a daily camp. There, for four days, more than 400 children had the opportunity to taste fruits of Orthodoxy in a full schedule; daily attendance of the Divine Liturgy and partaking of Holy Communion, catechisms and two to three hours of organized games and activities gave the children of Buramata the opportunity to experience things so familiar to Greek children but so unheard and distant to them. One of the most touching moments we lived was giving out the breakfast (warm milk and local sweets) to the children. The children came singing and waited in queue, while their faces looked full with gratitude for what their Greek brothers were offering them. A distinct part of our visit was our opportunity to participate in the ordination of the principal of Buramata Primary School, father Nectarios. This new priest, aware of the local difficulties, will be a significant help and support for the bishop. Furthermore, our group also delivered material help, both in kind and in money, to His Eminence Fr. Innocentios; this was thanks to the love of Orthodox Greek people, who didn’t hesitate, in the midst of a financial crisis, to show their support for our African brothers in practice, thus conducing to the implementation of this missionary effort. We pray that God will send them back richly his divine grace, protect and shelter everyone, guiding our deeds always to do good. Finally, we should not omit to refer to the great benefits this trip had for all its participants. Associating both with catechumens and faithful Orthodox, we realized that in their daily hassles God’s presence is so real, direct and moving. Their relationship with God is alive and they turn to Him waiting in faithfulness for His help at every adversity they have to deal with; which is something the God of love is willing to give generously. In short, we could say that the gift of the African people to Orthodox Greeks is a resounding message of hope: in the difficulty that sometimes seems to be insurmountable, GOD IS ALIVE.
Την 11η Σεπτεμβρίου 2014μη ΑΘΜ ο Πάπας και Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ.Θεόδωρος Β’ εχοροστάτησε κατά την Θεία Λειτουργία στον Πατριαρχικό Ιερό Ναό Οσίου Σάββα του Ηγιασμένου Αλεξανδρείας και ετέλεσε την Επιμνημόσυνη Δέηση του αοιδίμου προκατόχου Του, Πατριάρχου κυρού Πέτρου Ζ’, των μελών της πατριαρχικής συνοδείας και του πληρώματος του ελικοπτέρου, επί τη συμπληρώσει δέκα χρόνων από το μοιραίο αεροπορικό δυστύχημα που συνέβη στην περιοχή πλησίον του Αγίου Όρους, την 11η Σεμπεμβρίου 2004. Παρόντες ήσαν ο Εντιμ. Γενικός Πρόξενος της Ελλάδος στην Αλεξάνδρεια κ. Χρήστος Καποδίστριας, εκπρόσωποι Φορέων και Συλλόγων και αρκετοί πιστοί εκ της Ελληνικής και Κυπριακής Παροικίας.
Μετά το πέρας της Επιμνημόσυνης Δεήσεως, ο Μακαριώτατος απευθυνόμενος στο εκκλησίασμα αναφέρθηκε ως εξής:
« Μια δεκαετία πέρασε από τη ζοφερή εκείνη ημέρα της 11ης Σεπτεμβρίου 2004. Η είδηση απίστευτη στο άκουσμα. Η είδηση οδυνηρή για την Εκκλησία της Αλεξάνδρειας, τη μαρτυρική μεγαλόνησο Κύπρο και ολόκληρο τον Ορθόδοξο Ελληνισμό όπου γης. Το στρατιωτικό ελικόπτερο που μετέφερε τον Πατριάρχη Πέτρο Ζ΄ με την ιερή συνοδεία του σε προσκύνημα στο Περιβόλι της Παναγιάς, έπεσε στη θάλασσα, πριν προλάβει να προσγειωθεί, παρασέρνοντας μαζί του δεκαεπτά ψυχές. Ο Πατριάρχης Πέτρος Ζ΄, ο στιβαρός πηδαλιούχος του Αλεξανδρινού εκκλησιαστικού σκάφους στο μεταίχμιο της χιλιετίας, ο δυναμικός ανακαινιστής των τιμαλφών του Θρόνου του Αγίου Μάρκου, ο αισιόδοξος οραματιστής μιας ζωντανής Ιεραποστολικής Εκκλησίας, διέβη την οδό την απάγουσα στην επέκεινα ζωή. Τον ακολούθησαν τρεις εκλεκτοί Ιεράρχες του Αλεξανδρινού Θρόνου: ο Πηλουσίου Ειρηναίος, ο ένζηλος και ακατάβλητος εργάτης του ευαγγελισμού των ανθρωπίνων ψυχών στη Δυτική Αφρική• ο Καρθαγένης Χρυσόστομος, ο επιβλητικός εκκλησιαστικός άνδρας που άφησε το δικό του στίγμα στο Μετόχι των Αθηνών• ο Μαδαγασκάρης Νεκτάριος, ο ανιδιοτελής ιεραπόστολος που διαρκώς ταύτιζε τον εαυτό του με τον εμπερίστατο Αφρικανό. Μαζί τους ο φίλος και συνοδοιπόρος του Πατριαρχείου, ο Ηγούμενος της Ιεράς Μονής Μαχαιρά Κύπρου Αρσένιος. Μαζί τους πολύτιμοι συγκυρηναίοι του Θρόνου, κληρικοί και λαϊκοί. Μαζί τους άξιοι αξιωματικοί του Ελληνικού Στρατού. Επιτελώντας χρέος ιερό έναντι της ιστορίας και εκείνων που έφυγαν αφού προσέφεραν πολυτρόπως στον Αποστολικό Θρόνο της Αλεξάνδρειας, σήμερα κάνουμε απλώς αυτό που οφείλουμε και τίποτε παραπάνω: θυμόμαστε και προσευχόμαστε. Και αν κάποιοι θεωρούν ότι η σιωπή είναι η γλώσσα της αιωνιότητας, εμείς θεωρούμε ότι η γλώσσα της προσευχής νικά τη λήθη του χρόνου. Προσευχόμαστε αυτοί με τους οποίους συμπορευτήκαμε και συμπράξαμε στον αγώνα τον καλό, να αναπαύονται στην αγάπη του Θεού, του θησαυριστή και ευεργέτη των ψυχών μας. Αμήν! »
Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι στα πλαίσια της εκ βάθρων ανακαινίσεως της Ιεράς Πατριαρχικής Μονής Αγίου Γεωργίου Παλαιού Καΐρου, ο Μακαριώτατος μερίμνησε για την μετακομιδή και ευπρέπιση των λειψάνων των μακαριστών προκατόχων του σε ειδικώς φιλοτεχνηθείσες περικαλλείς λάρνακες εντός των Κατακομβών της αρχαίας Ροτόντας.
On 11th September 2014, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated during the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria and conducted the Memorial Prayers for his predecessor of blessed memory, Patriarch Petros VII, the members of his patriarchal entourage and the crew of the helicopter, on the completion of ten years since the fateful accident which occurred near Agion Oros, on 11th September 2004. Present were the Honorable Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr. Christos Kaposdistrias, representatives of Associations and Societies and many faithful from the Greek and Cypriot Communities. Following the Memorial Prayers His Beatitude addressed the congregation as follows: “A decade has passed since that sombre day of 11th September 2004. The news was unbelievable. The news was painful for the Church of Alexandria, the martyred Great Island of Cyprus and all of Greek Orthodoxy throughout the world. The military helicopter which was taking Patriarch Petros VII with his venerable entourage to venerate at the Holy Mountain, fell into the sea, before it could land, taking seventeen souls with it. Patriarch Petros VII, the robust helmsman of the Alexandrian Church on the threshold of the millennium, the dynamic refurbisher of the valuables belonging to the Throne of St Mark, the optimistic visionary of a viable Missionary Church, crossed the path to life beyond. He was followed by three fine Hierarchs of the Alexandrian Throne: Irenaios of Pilousion, the enthusiastic and tireless worker of evangelism of the souls of the people in West Africa; Chrysostomos of Carthage, the imposing man of the church who left his own mark on the Dependency in Athens; Nektarios of Madagascar, the selfless missionary who constantly equated himself with the suffering Africans. With them was the friend and companion of the Patriarchate, Hegumen Arsenios of the Holy Monastery of Mahairas in Cyprus. And with them valuable workers of the Throne, Clergy and laity. Together with them worthy officers of the Hellenic Military. Performing a venerable duty to history and to those who left having contributed in many ways to the Apostolic Throne of Alexandria, today we are simply doing that which we ought to do and nothing more: we remember and we pray. And if some believe that silence is the language of eternity, we believe that the language of prayer conquers the oblivion of time. We pray that those with whom we traveled and worked in the struggle for good, will rest in God’s love, the treasurer and benefactor of our souls. Amen!” It is worth noting that within the framework of the total renovations of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St George in Old Cairo, His Beatitude took care of the transfer and respectability of the relics of his predecessors in specifically created beautiful reliquaries in the catacombs of the ancient Rotonda.

Les archéologues égyptiens ont découvert, non loin d’Alexandrie, le manuscrit le plus ancien à ce jour comportant une prière connue à la très sainte Mère de Dieu. Ladite découverte a été communiquée par le centre de presse de l’Église orthodoxe d’Antioche. Selon les estimations des experts, le papyrus copte, daté du troisième siècle, est ainsi le plus ancien témoignage manuscrit connu de la prière des chrétiens des premiers siècles aux saints et, entre autres, à la très sainte Mère de Dieu. Le texte comporte la version complète d’une prière à la Mère de Dieu utilisée jusqu’à maintenant dans l’Église orthodoxe : « Sous ta miséricorde nous accourons ô Mère de Dieu, ne méprise pas nos supplications dans l’adversité, mais délivre-nous des malheurs, seule pure, seule bénie » (hymne chantée à la fin des vêpres pendant le grand Carême). Les savants mentionnent la grande exactitude de la tradition ecclésiale, qui a gardé les prières de l’antiquité pratiquement sans changement. Les archéologues soulignent que cette découverte jette une lumière sur beaucoup de détails de la pratique liturgique de l’Église ancienne ; en outre, elle constitue également une réfutation de certaines propositions visant à mettre en doute la pratique de la prière adressée aux saints lors des premiers siècles du christianisme, qui est qualifiée par de nombreux critiques comme « tradition plus tardive » ou « innovation ».
When a child is born into the world, everybody leans affectionately over it with an abundance of love and care and wants to know everything about it. We feel that our brothers from Greece care the same way about the relatively early steps taken by the Orthodox Church in Rwanda and Burundi. For this reason, we would like to make you partakers of the rich blessings of His grace which we have experienced lately, mainly through our participation in the sacraments of our Church. Thanks to the prayers and the actual assistance from Greece, we had the opportunity to live a particularly blessed summer with not only a large number of newly illumined Christians but also with the presence of fellow travellers all along the way. We started with the well-known doctor Mr. Antonis Liaskos, who undertook the task of catechism at Kazimpa in Rwanda, where people have demonstrated a strong thirst for Orthodoxy; that is why for a long time they were asking us most insistently to teach them our faith. Later a blessed group of young people from St Dimitris Loubardiaris parish arrived here, accompanied by Fr. Michael. Immediately after that we welcomed Mrs. Georgia Hatzivei, President of the NGO “Anthropoi Agapis” (People of Love), who was visiting Burundi for the fourth time, offering great help and unfailing love. At the same time, we welcomed the first volunteers of the “Contribution to Educating Africa’s Children” society, who have developed educational activities in Metropolises as Madagascar and Uganda.
Initially our guests met with the community of catechumens in Kazimba and marveled at the fact that impoverished people had already organized themselves into groups focusing on the Orthodox faith and aiming to develop activities in order to support their families and their future Orthodox Church. All this takes place in a quite big hut, but we want to believe that with God’s help this hut will be replaced by the first Orthodox sacred church in Rwanda, which will cost around 100,000 euros. Still, these people, who are characterized by an unprecedented zeal for our faith, wish to have the first Orthodox Kindergarten in Rwanda, which will embrace all the orphans and poor children in the region free of charge and lay strong educational foundations from an early age. The cost of construction and operation is estimated at around 10,000 euros. Before leaving for Burundi with the volunteers, we showed them around the Museum of Genocide of 1994, where we saw with pain of soul the atrocities that took place a few years ago, leaving numerous open wounds. In this traumatized society, we are certain that Orthodoxy can comfort and give hope to all people, unlike many other denominations which unfortunately took part in the bloody cycle of hatred by driving people away from the love of Christ.
On arriving in Bujumbura, capital of Burundi, volunteers of the “Contribution” society immediately began preparing for the Orthodox camp on the hill of Buramata. It is a village which became a shelter for all the people that were uprooted from their homes because of the genocide and the civil war. Although the government gave this rudimentary shelter, it failed to provide a piece of land or even a water supply. As a result, people can only find food for their children every second or third day. In this location a six-grade elementary school has been built, and we do everything in our power to provide the school children with access to clean drinking water so that they will not have to walk long distances every day carrying jerry cans on their heads. Father Nektarios, who has only recently been ordained to the priesthood, is the headmaster of this school. Besides the school, we also have the imposing presence of the Sacred Church of Saint Alexios the Man of God, which is filled with the beautiful voices of the people attending every church service.
This place, though so poor in material goods and stimuli, was filled with life and joy of Christ during the camping period that was organized by the “Contribution”. The person in charge, Irene Papahatzis, wrote about it: “From the very first moment we were surrounded by hundreds of happy children who were shouting joyfully for our coming and were trying to catch our hands in order to greet us. Immediately we realized that choosing some children only for the camp was not possible, that is why we handed out applications for all the children of the village, who were more than 550!! Fortunately we were helped considerably by the 32 group leaders who were offered the standard two- day training and conduced to shaping the program. Equally valuable was the help on the part of the priests who were constantly by our side and with lots of enthusiasm encouraged young and old to participate with love in Christ in all camp activities. Every day was full of joy.” Apart from organizing this camp, the volunteers of the “Contribution” handed out school supplies to all children and offered scholarships to all graduates who were promoted to middle school, and are now required to pay tuition fees. We also asked them, if they could, to sponsor the scholarships of the children who want to go to university, and they told us that they were looking for people in Greece who would like to take on some of these scholarships.
The highlight of August for our local Church in Burundi was nothing else but the festive celebration in our cathedral church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This great Marian feast was celebrated together with our Orthodox brothers who had come from Rwanda, Uganda, Congo, Tanzania and Greece. On the same day, during the solemn Divine Liturgy, the entire congregation shouted out “Worthy” twice. First for father Nektarios, who was ordained a priest, and then for father Panagiotis, who was ordained a deacon. The celebration of these exceptional events was continued beyond the precincts of the Sacred Church with the food that was offered to all the faithful, who would not stop cheering for their new clerics. Immediately after that, we left together by car for Rwanda, where the catechumens were expecting us anxiously in order to receive the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of baptism. Hundreds of people were gathered near a small creek in order to watch joyously the illumination of the first 230 Orthodox Rwandans. Men, women and children were entering the river, our own little Jordan, with joy while all of them resembled angels in their white tunics. In the Divine Liturgy conducted outdoors for the first time, the neophytes partook of the Blessed Sacrament with their new Christian name.
Then, we visited all the communities that eagerly invite us in order to learn about Orthodoxy. Even our brothers from Russia living in Rwanda, feel very comforted by the Divine Liturgies which we perform in a specific area at a house that we had to rent. Having this house as its base, the presence and work of the Orthodox Church has been officially recognized by the government. Of course we pray to the benevolent God that he enlightens people who love Mission, i.e. all of you and each one individually, to support us financially so that we can respond to the large number of spiritual and material needs of the long-suffering brothers of our Metropolis. The running costs are high, as we have to move constantly from one country to another and go to any remote area that is craving for the truth of our Christ. We try to make a careful planning of our dreams for building an Episcopal see, churches, schools and structures that could relieve the pain and misery of thousands of orphans who are still on the road, even so many years after the civil war. Finally, we would like to ask all our Orthodox brethren to remember us in their prayers for this new “little vineyard” that His right hand has planted. Innocentios of Burundi and Rwanda
Τρισάγιο στη μνήμη του μακαριστού Πατριάρχη Πέτρου Ζ και της συνοδείας του, που βρήκαν τραγικό θάνατο στην θαλάσσια περιοχή της Χαλκιδικής στις 11 Σεπτεμβρίου 2004, τέλεσε την Πέμπτη 11 Σεπτεμβρίου 2014, ο Πανιερώτατος Μητροπολίτης Κιτίου κ. Χρυσόστομος.
Το τρισάγιο μνημόσυνο, με αφορμή την συμπλήρωση 10 χρόνων από την πτώση του μοιραίου ελικοπτέρου, τελέστηκε ενώπιον του ανδριάντα του Μακαριστού Πατριάρχη Αλεξανδρείας κυρού Πέτρου, που βρίσκεται στο προαύλιο του Ιερού Ναού Αγίου Γεωργίου Κοντού στην Λάρνακα.
Παρέστησαν ο Πρωτοπρεσβύτερος Αθηνόδωρος Παπαευρυπιάδης, Εκπρόσωπος του Πατριάρχη Αλεξανδρείας στην Κύπρο, κληρικοί της Μητροπόλεως Κιτίου, τα μέλη της οικογένειας του μακαριστού Πατριάρχη και σημαντικός αριθμός φίλων και εκτιμητών του έργου και της προσωπικότητας τόσο του μακαριστού Πατριάρχη, όσο και των μελών της συνοδείας του.
Η σύνδεση του Σταυρού με την σωτηρία του ανθρώπου από τον Ιησού Χριστόν έγινε σύμβολο θυσίας και προεικονίσεως της Αναστάσεως. ΄Ετσι ο Σταυρός στον Χριστιανισμό αποτελεί έμβλημα σωτηρίας. ΄Ενας από τους γνωστότερους υμνογράφους της Εκκλησίας μας, ο άγιος Ανδρέας Κρήτης (έζησε κατά τα τέλη του 7ου και αρχές του 8ου αιώνος), εκφράζοντας τη θεολογική σημασία του Σταυρού, που ήδη καθιερώθηκε στην χριστιανική Παράδοση, τονίζει ότι ο Σταυρός αποτελεί την ελπίδα των χριστιανών, ότι είναι ο σωτήρας των απεγνωσμένων, «ο δωτήρ της υγείας, η ζωή των νενεκρωμένων, πρόγραμμα ευσεβείας, φίμωτρον βλασφημίας, όπλον κατ’ εχθρών, σκήπτρον βασιλείας, διάδημα κάλλους, ράβδος δυνάμεως, έρεισμα πίστεως, βακτηρία γήρους, οδηγός τυφλών, φως των εν σκότει, παιδωτής αφρόνων, διδάσκαλος νηπίων, αναίρεσις αμαρτίας, ένδειξις μετανοίας, υπογραφεύς δικαιοσύνης, κλίμαξ εις ουρανόν άγουσα, οδός προς αρετήν οδηγούσα, ζωής πρόξενος, θανάτου λύσις, φθοράς αλλοτρίωσις, πυρός σβεστήριον, προς Θεόν παρρησία, κλείς ουρανών βασιλείας, φύλαξ εν νυκτί, εν ημέρα πύργος, εν σκότει χειραγωγός, εν ευθυμία χαλινός, εν αθυμία ψυχαγωγός, ικέσιος, φίλιος, συνήγορος, προασπιστής, επίκουρος («ύμνος από την ακολουθία της Υψώσεως του Τιμίου Σταυρού, P.G. 97, 1020 και εξής»).
Διά του Σταυρού εκδηλώνεται πλουσιοπάροχα στον κόσμο το πλήθος της αγάπης της φιλανθρωπίας του Θεού. Γι’ αυτό το σημείο του Σταυρού στην λατρεία και στην υμνολογία της Εκκλησίας μας εξυπηρετεί ακριβώς την αναγνώριση αυτής της πίστεως εκ μέρους των πιστών. Η έναρξη και η λήξη κάθε λειτουργικής πράξεως ή τελετής ( ακόμη και πραγματοποίηση κάθε σημαντικού έργου στην προσωπική μας ζωή) σηματοδοτείται πάντοτε διά του σημείου του Σταυρού.
Η ζωή του καλού χριστιανού είναι πορεία προς τη ζωή του Χριστού. Κι αυτή η πορεία για να φτάσει στην Ανάσταση, περνά απαραίτητα από την Σταύρωση του Γολγοθά («τον Σταυρόν σου προσκυνούμεν Κύριε, και την αγίαν σου Ανάστασιν δοξάζομεν»).
Ανάλογα με το βαθμό, που ο άνθρωπος ζει και συνηδειτοποιεί την πραγματικότητα της Σταυρικής θυσίας του Ιησού Χριστού, βρίσκει και τη δύναμη, με την χάριν του Θεού, ν’ ακολουθεί στη ζωή του με συνέπεια τις ευαγγελικές προτροπές.
With the blessings of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, Theodoros II, Yesterday on 14 September 2014 at Kaziba, Kirehe District in Eastern Province of Rwanda, on the great feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, His Grace Bishop Innocentios of the Holy Diocese of Burundi and Rwanda, ordained one Rwandan Priest and one Rwandan Deacon. This was a remarkable event in the history of the Diocese of Burundi and Rwanda, because it was the first Orthodox ordination in the very good soil of Rwanda. The ceremony was full of joy, those present numbering to over 2,000 people. Frankly speaking, Rwandans are thirsty of the Orthodox faith, thus my encouragement to all who desire to join this unaltered faith of the Holy Apostles after 2,000 years. And telling them like Phillip told Nathanael in John 1:46, to "come and see!". Reported by George

Όσες φορές και αν κατέβει κανείς τελικά στην Αφρική γυρνάει πάντα με γεμάτη την καρδιά. Αυτό το καλοκαίρι κατάφερα να ζήσω για 2η φορά την εμπειρία της Ουγκάντας. Μετά τις περσινές εικόνες και αναμνήσεις που είχα από τον τόσο διαφορετικό αυτό κόσμο περίμενα με μεγάλη χαρά και προσμονή αυτό το ταξίδι.
Πέρσι είδαμε την Ιεραποστολή αυτή να βάζει τα θεμέλια της. Φέτος κατεβήκαμε περιμένοντας να δούμε την εξέλιξή της. Αυτό που βρήκαμε όμως ήταν πολύ παραπάνω από ότι μπορεί να είχαμε φανταστεί. Βρήκαμε την εκκλησία τουΑγ.Σπυρίδωνασχεδόν ολοκληρωμένη. Βρήκαμε ένα ιατρείο. Βρήκαμε ένα πολύ όμορφο και περιποιημένο χώρο. Αλλά η μεγαλύτερη έκπληξη ήταν ότι βρήκαμε μια ενορία! Βρήκαμε μια πολύ μεγάλη οικογένεια! Άνθρωποι όλων των ηλικιών έτοιμοι να προσφέρουν και να βοηθήσουν ο ένας τον άλλον. Άνθρωποι που ζούνε με το τίποτα αλλά χαμογελούνε πάντα. Άνθρωποι που πιστεύουν με την ψυχή τους. Σε κάθε Θεία Λειτουργία βλέπαμε την Εκκλησία να ζωντανεύει! Από πολύ νωρίς είχε γεμίσει. Και όλοι έψελναν μαζί. Από τον πιο μικρό μέχρι τον πιο μεγάλο. Ήταν μια συγκλονιστική εικόνα που στην Ελλάδα δεν έχω συναντήσει.
Οι άνθρωποι της Ουγκάντας μου έχουν προσφέρει πολύ περισσότερα από όσα θα μπορούσα εγώ να τους δώσω! Με βοήθησαν να γνωρίσω τον Θεό καλύτερα και μέσα από Αυτόν να γνωρίσω και τον εαυτό μου καλύτερα. Έμαθα να εκτιμάω αλλά και να ευχαριστώ κάθε μέρα για όσα έχω. Γιατί εκεί κάτω τίποτα από αυτά δεν είναι δεδομένο. Αυτοί οι άνθρωποι μου απέδειξαν πόσο απλό είναι να είσαι ευτυχισμένος. Πως μέσα σε τόσες κακουχίες και προβλήματα να έχεις την δύναμη να χαμογελάς. Πως δεν πρέπει ποτέ να πάψεις να ελπίζεις.
* Σημείωση της 3ης Αποστολής.Η Σταυρούλα Λαμπίδη, φοιτήτρια της Ιατρικής, βοήθησε και προσέφερε με αγάπη , εθελοντικά το 2013 και 2014 στη Ιεραποστολική δραστηριότητα της Ιεράς Μονής Χρυσοπηγής στην Ουγκάντα.Μαζί με άλλα νέα παιδιά βοηθά στο πρόγραμμα αναδοχής σπουδών για τα παιδιά της Ουγκάντας κατά τη διάρκεια του χειμώνα.Ο Θεός να την ευλογεί!Την ευχαριστούμε "από καρδιάς"πολύ.

Continuing story...: With the blessings of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, Theodoros II, Yesterday on 14 September 2014 at Kaziba, Kirehe District in Eastern Province of Rwanda, on the great feast of the Eleva...tion of the Holy Cross, His Grace Bishop Innocentios of the Holy Diocese of Burundi and Rwanda, ordained one Rwandan Priest and one Rwandan Deacon. This was a remarkable event in the history of the Diocese of Burundi and Rwanda, because it was the first Orthodox ordination in the very good soil of Rwanda. The ceremony was full of joy, those present numbering to over 2,000 people. Frankly speaking, Rwandans are thirsty of the Orthodox faith, thus my encouragement to all who desire to join this unaltered faith of the Holy Apostles after 2,000 years. ROMFEA.GR |Ύστερα από ένα κοπιώδες και περιπετειώδες ταξίδι από τη Δυτική Κένυα, έφθασε, στην περιοχή του Κιλιμάντζαρο, ο Σεβασμιώτατος Μητροπολίτης Κένυας κ. Μακάριος.
Μαζί με τους δύο ιερείς της περιοχής, επισκέφθηκε τον υπό ανέγερση νέο ιερό ναό, ακριβώς στους πρόποδες του όρους.
Ο Σεβασμιώτατος εγκαινίασε, πριν αρκετά χρόνια, τον πρώτο ιερό ναό στο χωριό Ιλασίτ, αφιερωμένο στον Άγιο Ιωάννη τον Πρόδρομο (2004).
Ο νέος ιερός ναός βρίσκεται, ακριβώς, στα σύνορα της Τανζανίας.
Ο Σεβασμιώτατος ευχαρίστησε όλους όσους εργάζονται στην περιοχή αυτή, ιδιαίτερα τους ιερείς, έναν Κικούγιο και έναν Μασάι, απόφοιτους της Πατριαρχικής Σχολής.
Λίγο πριν επιστρέψει στη Ναϊρόμπη, ο Σεβασμιώτατος κατέθεσε τον θεμέλιο λίγο του νέου ιερού ναού, αφιερωμένου στον Άγιο Ιωάννη τον Χρυσόστομο.
Απευθυνόμενος, ο Σεβασμιώτατος, προς τους πιστούς των δύο φυλών, Κικούγιου και Μασάι.
Τόνισε ότι το μήνυμα της Ορθοδοξίας είναι διαχρονικό και υπεράνω φυλών και γλωσσών.
Διαβίβασε, στο τέλος, τις πατρικές και πατριαρχικές ευχές και ευλογίες της Α. Θ. Μ. του Πατριάρχου κ.κ. Θεοδώρου Β΄.
Ο Σεβασμιώτατος, στις επισκέψεις του και στους τρεις ιερούς ναούς, θυμήθηκε με πολλή συγκίνηση την πρώτη του επίσκεψη, προ τριάντα τόσα χρόνια, όταν, ως λαϊκός, γύριζε, για να γνωρίσει τους πιστούς και να κατηχήσει τον κόσμο.
Την εποχή εκείνη δεν υπήρχε καν δρόμος, κάτι σαν μονοπάτι από χώμα και πέτρες, που για να φθάσει κανείς εκεί χρειαζόταν μια ολόκληρη μέρα, ενώ, τώρα, μέσα σε τρεις ώρες από τη Σχολή ως το Κιλιμάντζαρο είναι μια άνετη διαδρομή, αφού κατασκευάστηκε, τελευταία, κανονικός ασφαλτωμένος δρόμος.
Μάλιστα, έφερε στη μνήμη του την πρώτη νύκτα που τον έβαλαν να κοιμηθεί μέσα σε μια καλύβα, καμωμένη από χόρτο και χώμα στο πάτωμα.
Το βράδυ, οι ελέφαντες ήταν εκείνοι που πηγαινοέρχονταν και έκαναν έναν περίεργο θόρυβο.
Για μένα τον ανίδεο και χωρίς πείρα, οπωσδήποτε, προκαλούσε η παρουσία τους, φόβο και το βράδυ δεν μπορούσα να κοιμηθώ, αφού ήταν εκεί απ’ έξω και έκαναν έντονη την παρουσία τους.
Στο βάθος, φυσικά, και λίγα μέτρα από τον χώρο αυτό, στεκόταν το περίφημο όρος Κιλιμάντζαρο, χιονισμένο, αιώνιο και υπερήφανο.
Πριν αναχωρήσει ο Σεβασμιώτατος, επισκέφθηκε, στο σπίτι του, τον γηραιό ιερέα π. Ρωμανό, που, εδώ και χρόνια υποφέρει από μια περίεργη ασθένεια. Προσευχήθηκε και ευχήθηκε ταχεία ανάρρωση.
On Sunday 14 September His Eminence Archbishop Sergios, Metropolitan of Good Hope, officiated at the Divine Liturgy for the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross at the Cathedral of Saint George the Great Martyr in Cape Town. He was assisted by Reverend Father Nikolaos Giamouridis and Father Deacon Michael Simos. The Liturgy concluded with a special service for the feast, in which the Cross was brought out in procession and was venerated, together with special prayers.
In his address after the service, His Eminence said that the Cross represents Jesus’ victory over sin and death, since it is believed that through his death and resurrection he conquered death itself. Before Christ, the Cross was a symbol of punishment but after the crucifixion of Christ the Cross has become a means to salvation. His Eminence said that it is through the Cross that the clergy give blessings and that as Christians we also have the opportunity to use the power of the Cross in our daily lives. He ended by congratulating those who celebrate their name day on this day and mentioned in particular Stavros Simos, who has been a psaltis at the Cathedral for many years. His Eminence expressed his hope that the way of the Cross will protect them and guide them in their daily lives.

And a memorial prayer was said for the late Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Petros VII who died tragically ten years ago. After the service Fr Evlogios told the congregation about the great personality of the late Patriarch and his missionary work throughout Africa. Η Ιερά Μητρόπολη Νιγηρίας, στα πλαίσια των προσπαθειών της για την παροχή δωρεάν εκπαίδευσης σε άπορα παιδιά, ξεκίνησε τη λειτουργία νηπιαγωγείου και δημοτικού σχολείου στο χωριό Karmem της πολιτείας Benue της κεντρικής Νιγηρίας. Το σχολείο άρχισε να λειτουργεί σε χορτοκαλύβες και ήδη φιλοξενεί 186 μαθητές. Το σύνολο των λειτουργικών εξόδων καλύπτεται από τη Μητρόπολη Νιγηρίας.
Η Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία αποφάσισε να προχωρήσει στην ανοικοδόμηση σχολικών κτηρίων σε γη που παραχωρήθηκε από τις τοπικές αρχές. Όμως, οι οικονομικές δυνατότητες είναι περιορισμένες.
Συνολικά για την κατασκευή απαιτούνται 39.000 ευρώ. Ας βοηθήσουμε όλοι για να στεγάσουμε το μέλλον των παιδιών της Ορθόδοξης χριστιανικής Εκκλησίας στη Νιγηρία.

“Αφήστε τα παιδιά να έρθουν σε μένα” είπε ο Χριστός. Ας τα βοηθήσουμε… Ας μην ξεχνάμε το δίλεπτο της χήρας και το ποτήρι κρύου νερού που μνημόνευσε ο Κύριος (Μάρκ. 9, 41). Αυτό το ποτήρι θα το χρειαστούμε και ελπίζουμε να μας περιμένει στον ουρανό!…
