Every man coming into this world has derived from God, since he is a creature of His love. Therefore, Orthodoxy, the true family of God, is the natural state for man. Seeking God is as natural as being thirsty and seeking water, or being hungry and seeking food. Of course, we, Greeks, have had the blessing to be born in an Orthodox place, in a place “soaked” in immaculate Orthodoxy since the early apostolic times. It is not accidental the fact that Saint Lydia of Philippi, who got the holy baptism from the hands of Saint Paul in AD 49 in the Zygactes River in Eastern Macedonia, is the first European to embrace Christianity! Therefore, we have the privilege to be spiritually edified in the Church from our infancy. However, in the contemporary missionary field things move the other way around. The inextinguishable attraction towards God that burns in the people’s souls becomes the magnet and the mystical voice that calls the Orthodox Church to the depths of tropical rainforests to articulate the word of salvation and preach the “Unknown God”, whom our brothers have been seeking for centuries. And because these people still preserve an honest intention, a simplistic way of thinking and a humble spirit, they accept the certainty of God’s existence much more naturally and spontaneously. In our thought and heart we still keep alive the first encounter we had with the Orthodox Pygmies in the North of the Congo Republic six years ago. This is an ancient people living in the tropical forests, subsisting on what nature has to offer, heartily courteous and goodhearted. When I met them, they didn’t speak about problems or future plans. Their language lacks a future tense; there is no “will” in their dialect. Using the present tense in their talks, they experience in practice the constant present of the liturgical time, without plans for tomorrow! Being their bishop, I tried to gradually delve into the Pygmy mindset and, in awe I realize that God has well prepared the ground in the people’s souls. Their daily life, even before they came to know the Church and be illumined by the Holy Spirit, professed this inquiry. The Pygmies worshipped, among others, the “unknown Creator of the world”, God, whom in their unique dialect they call “Kumba.” According to their worldview, the creation has always been sacred as a Kumba’s creature. Nobody can be rude against it. Nature gives everyone as much as they need to survive. For them it is a great faux pas to destroy the forest. You can only take whatever you need, nothing more. The baptism of the first Pygmy in the Oubangui River was the dawning of the Orthodox Mission in the northern Congo Republic. Just like Saint Lydia’s baptism on the banks of the river Zygactes. All these prepared the ground for them to seek Orthodoxy on their own. They tirelessly looked for the Creator, they sought and they found. His providence unreservedly declares that the people of the jungle, the short Pygmies, are our true brothers who embrace the Church and along with us confess and worship the resurrected Christ. It rests with our own love and decision to reveal to them the face of God with words of life and deeds of love, both spiritual and material. For centuries the Lord has blessed us to trumpet His orthodox faith to the world. Τα μεσάνυχτα της 31ηςΔεκεμβρίου προς 1ηΙανουαρίου 2019 ο Σεβ. Μητροπολίτης Μπραζαβίλ και Γκαμπόν κ.Παντελεήμων ετέλεσε την Θεία Λειτουργία και εκήρυξε τον θείο λόγο στον προσωρινό Ιερό Καθεδρικό Ναό Αγίου Δημητρίου Pointe-Noire.
Προ του πέρατος της Θείας Ευχαριστίας ο Σεβασμιώτατος συνεχάρη για μία ακόμη φορά την Εκκλησιαστική Επιτροπή και τους ενορίτες του Ναού για την καθοριστική συμβολή τους στην ολοκλήρωση των εργασιών ανέγερσης του νέου Καθεδρικού Ναού.
Ακολούθησαν αντιφωνήσεις των κ.Seraphin Bhalat, Γενικού Διευθυντού του Αυτονόμου Λιμένος Pointe-Noire, Μέλους του Μητροπολιτικού Συμβουλίου και του Αναγνώστου κ.Makaya, Προέδρου της Ενοριακής Επιτροπής του Καθεδρικού Ναού, οι οποίοι εξέφρασαν την ευγνωμοσύνη των πιστών για την πατρική αγάπη και την ανύστακτη ποιμαντική μέριμνα του πρώτου ορθοδόξου Ποιμενάρχου του Κονγκό-Μπραζαβίλ, Σεβ. κ. Παντελεήμονος, για την εν γένει δυναμική πορεία της τοπικής Ορθοδόξου Εκκλησίας που συμπληρώνει κατά το παρόν έτος 35 χρόνια ζωής στο Κονγκό (1984-2019), ως και για την μετά από 19 έτη ολοκλήρωση της κατασκευής του περίβλεπτου Καθεδρικού Ναού (2000-2019), ο οποίος θα εγκαινιασθεί προσεχώς από την ΑΘΜ τον Πάπα και Πατριάρχη Αλεξανδρείας.

Το ντοκιμαντέρ είναι αφιερωμένο στα παιδιά της Αφρικής, και ειδικότερα του Κονγκό."
Le 30 Décembre 2018, Son Eminence l’Archevêque Μétropolitain du Congo-Brazzaville et Gabon, Mgr. Panteleimon, a célébré la Divine Liturgie et prêché la parole de Dieu dans la sainte église paroissiale « Sainte Irène » Dolisie.
Immédiatement après, il y a eu une réunion de catéchisme de fidèles à qui l’Archevêque a interprété de manière simple la signification de l’Incarnation du Seigneur et a répondu à un certain nombre de questions. À tous, il a distribué le Calendrier de l’Archidiocèse de l'année 2019.
Par la suite, il a eu successivement des longs moments d’entretiens avec les Membres du Comité ecclésiastique du Temple, avec le Curé de la Communauté Paroissiale « Sainte Irène » Dolisie et le Directeur de l'Orphelinat modèle de Saint Eustache, le père Paul Diafouka, ainsi qu’avec le Directeur de l'Ecole Orthodoxe " Lumière des Nations".
Dans l'après-midi, le Métropolite a rencontré les enfants de l'Orphelinat Orthodoxe ; il leur a parlé de l'importance des douze saints jours (de fêtes de fin et du début de l’année) ; il a écouté leurs pensées et leurs préoccupations et il a répondu à leurs questions. La joyeuse réunion s'est achevée avec l'octroi de la croix pectorale, de friandises, de jouets et de nouvelles chaussures pour les activités sportives des enfants sur l’adjacent nouveau terrain de basketball de la fondation. Puis l’Archevêque s’est rendu par voie terrestre au siège de l’Archidiocèse à Pointe-Noire.

Η Α. Θ. Μακαριότης ο Πάπας και Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ. Θεόδωρος Β΄, ετέλεσε στο Πατριαρχικό Παρεκκλήσιο των Αγίων Θεοδώρων, Τρισάγιο υπέρ Αναπαύσεως της ψυχής του μακαριστού Επισκόπου κ. Αθανασίου, παρουσία Ιεραρχών του Θρόνου και της Πατριαρχικής Αυλής.
Ο μακαριστός Επίσκοπος Κισούμου και Δυτικής Κένυας κ. Αθανάσιος (Amos Akunda Masaba), γεννήθηκε στο Ebusitatsi Ebukhubi της Bunyore Δυτικής Κένυας. Φοίτησε στο Mundecheyo Primary and Mill Hill Catholic High Scool, στην Ιερατική Σχολή "Μακάριος Γ΄"και στην Θεολογική Σχολή Τιμίου Σταυρού στις ΗΠΑ. Επίσης τυγχάνει Διδάκτωρ Θεολογίας (DTH) από το Κρατικό Πανεπιστήμιο της Νότιας Αφρικής (UNISA). Διάκονος χειροτονήθηκε στις 12 Απριλίου 1998 από τον Σεβ. Μητροπολίτη Ζιμπάμπουε κ. Σεραφείμ και Πρεσβύτερος στις 25 Ιουλίου 2002, από τον ίδιο Αρχιερέα ως Μητροπολίτη Ιωαννουπόλεως και Πρετορίας. Αρχιμανδρίτης χειροθετήθηκε στις 18 Ιανουαρίου 2010 από τον Σεβ. Μητροπολίτη Ιωαννουπόλεως και Πρετορίας κ. Δαμασκηνό. Υπηρέτησε στην Μητρόπολη Κένυας, στην Μητρόπολη Βοστώνης ΗΠΑ και στην Ιεραποστολή της Νοτίου Αφρικής. Επίσης, Λέκτορας Τελετουργικής, Πατρολογίας, Πολιτισμικής Ανθρωπολογίας και Οικουμενισμού στην Πατριαρχική Ιερατική Σχολή της Κένυας "Μακάριος Γ΄". Είναι μέλος του Assosiation of the Theological Institutions of Eastern Africa (ATIEA). Την 24η Νοεμβρίου 2015, τη προτάσει της ΑΘΜ του Πάπα και Πατριάρχου Αλεξανδρείας κ.κ. Θεοδώρου Β΄, εξελέγη υπό της Αγίας και Ιεράς Συνόδου του Πατριαρχείου Αλεξανδρείας Επίσκοπος της νεοσυσταθείσης Επισκοπής ΚΙισούμου και Δυτικής Κένυας. Εχειροτονήθη υπό της Α.Θ.Μ. την 6η Δεκεμβρίου 2015.
Τοποτηρητής της χηρευούσης Επισκοπής Κισούμου και Δυτικής Κένυας ωρίσθη, εντολή της Α.Θ.Μ. του Πάπα και Πατριάρχου Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ. Θεοδώρου Β΄, ο Σεβασμιώτατος Μητροπολίτης Ναϊρόμπης κ. Μακάριος.

Today, on the feast day of the 70 Holy Apostles, His Grace Bishop Athanasios Akunda, Bishop of Kisumu and Western Kenya, has fallen asleep in the Lord. Bishop Athanasios was truly an exemplary modern-day apostle. How fitting that it would be this day that he would join the host of Apostles in the Kingdom of God. In the Gospel of Luke (Luke 10:1-16) we read of how the Lord sent His holy apostles two-by-two into every city and place, saying, “The harvest is great, but the laborers are few; pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest...Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals...but whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’” This was the model of our dear bishop, who left his home first to study here in the US at Holy Cross Seminary; and then when he finally returned to Africa and was ordained, he accepted to be sent as an apostle and missionary to South Africa where he ministered for many years. After decades of missionary service there, he was sent back to his birth country of Kenya and soon after elevated to bishop of a newly-formed diocese. With love and a gentle kindness, he has planted the first seeds of this new diocese. With gratitude for Bishop Athanasios’s humble and gentle example, we thank God for the blessings we have received in knowing him these many years. While we mourn all that could have been, were he among us longer, we rejoice in the hope that he has joined the ranks of the Apostles in the Kingdom of Heaven. In honor of Bishop Athanasios and to assist with the present needs surrounding his passing, OCMC has established a fund so that you can participate. "Ήταν μεγάλη χαρά και τιμή μας που στις 28 Δεκεμβρίου 2018 πραγματοποιήσαμε την πρώτη μας εκδήλωση, στην αίθουσα Plaza του ξενοδοχείου Olympic στα Ιωάννινα.
Μια γιορτή "Αγάπης και προσφοράς για τα παιδιά της Αφρικής"με τη συνδιοργάνωση της Χ.Ε.Ν. Ιωαννίνων και του ξενοδοχείου Olympic. Έγινε παρουσίαση της My Rafiki (σκοποί, δράσεις). Παρουσιάσαμε στιγμιότυπα από την 1η μας δράση "ΦΙΛΙΑ ΠΕΡΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΑ ΣΥΝΟΡΑ"καθώς και μια σύντομη αναφορά για τη 2η δράση μας που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στα μέσα του Ιανουαρίου σε δύο χωριά στο Μόντε και στο Ρουμπάρε. Το ενδιαφέρον και η προσφορά όλων πολύ σημαντικά. Τα υλικά είδη που συγκεντρώθηκαν για τη 2η δράση μας πολύτιμα για τις κατασκηνώσεις μας. With him we visited the family of the late Bishop Athanasios of Kisumu where he gave his condolences, we also visited the late Bishop Athanasios residence in kakamega hence back to the Diocese where he led the priests in doing trisajon for the late Bishop.
