Το πρωί της Πέμπτης, 15 Φεβρουαρίου 2018, η Α.Θ. Μ. ο Πάπας και Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ. Θεόδωρος Β΄, επισκέφθηκε και προσκύνησε τον Ιερό Καθεδρικό Ναό του Ευαγγελισμού στο Χαρτούμ. Ακολούθως, ο Μακαριώτατος σε συνέντευξη εντός του Ναού στο BBC και σε άλλα κανάλια, αναφέρθηκε στην ιστορία του Ελληνισμού στο Σουδάν αλλά και στις Ορθόδοξες Αποστολές σε όλη την Αφρικανική Ήπειρο, δήλωσε πανευτυχής που βρίσκεται στο Σουδάν, το οποίο επισκέπτεται για δεύτερη φορά και ευχαρίστησε τον Πρόεδρο της χώρας, για την θερμή υποδοχή που του επιφύλαξε η Σουδανική Κυβέρνηση. Εξήρε δε, την άριστη και αρμονική συμβίωση Χριστιανών και Μουσουλμάνων, στην όμορφη αυτή χώρα που αγκαλιάζει ο ποταμός Νείλος.

Ακολούθως, μετέβη στο Επισκοπείο και τα γραφεία της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως, όπου συζήτησε με τον οικείο Μητροπολίτη, διάφορα θέματα που αφορούν του Ορθοδόξους του Σουδάν και έδωσε τις απαραίτητες κατευθύνσεις.

Στην συνέχεια, μετέβη στην Αιγυπτιακή Πρεσβεία στο Χαρτούμ, όπου έγινε δεκτός από τον Σύμβουλο της Πρεσβείας και τον Υπεύθυνο Δημοσίων Σχέσεων, καθώς ο Πρέσβης απουσίαζε στο Κάιρο. Ευχαρίστησε για την θερμή υποδοχή και αναφέρθηκε στις άριστες σχέσεις με τον Πρόεδρο της Αιγύπτου αλλά και τις κοινές προσπάθειες που γίνονται για το καλό της χώρας σε πολλούς τομείς. Επίσης, αναφέρθηκε στις αδελφικές σχέσεις της Ελλάδας με την Αίγυπτο και το Σουδάν αλλά και στην Ελληνική παρουσία στο Σουδάν, παλαιότερα και τώρα. Η Αιγυπτιακή Πρεσβεία από την Πλευρά της, καλωσόρισε τον Πατριάρχη στο Σουδάν, την επίσκεψη του οποίου θεωρεί σημαντική και για τις δύο χώρες, της Αιγύπτου και του Σουδάν και δήλωσε ότι, η Αιγυπτιακή Πρεσβεία θα σταθεί στο πλευρό των Ελλήνων, όπου χρειαστεί.

Αμέσως μετά ο Προκαθήμενος του Αλεξανδρινού Θρόνου, μετέβη στο Επίτιμο Ελληνικό Προξενείο το οποίο στεγάζεται στο Ξενοδοχείο “ΑΚΡΟΠΟΛ”, όπου τον υποδέχθηκε ο Επίτιμος Πρόξενος της Ελλάδος στο Σουδάν κ. Γεράσιμος Παγουλάτος, με τον οποίο είχε σύντομη συζήτηση σχετικά με τον Ελληνισμό στο Σουδάν. Ο Μακαριώτατος πρόσφερε στον κ. Παγουλάτο, Τόμο του Αγίου Γεωργίου Καίρου, ως Αναμνηστικό της επισκέψεώς του στο Σουδάν.

Το μεσημέρι, ο Πατριάρχης παρακάθισε σε γεύμα, το οποίο παρέθεσε προς τιμήν του ο Επίτιμος Πρόξενος, παρουσία και της Προέδρου της Ελληνικής Κοινότητας Χαρτούμ Δρ. Αλεξάνδρας Πατεράκη.

On 14th February 2018, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Eminence Nicodemus Metropolitan of Memphis and Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo, arrived in Khartoum, capital of Sudan.

He was warmly welcomed by the Government of Sudan as well as the Hellenic Community, as well as representatives of other Churches. His Beatitude was welcomed at the International Airport in Khartoum by the Minister for Orientation, National Legacies and Religions Mr. ABUBAHR OSMAN, the Secretary General for Religions, the Secretary General of Churches, those in charge of Ecclesiastical Matter from then National Guard, the Honorary Consul of Greece in Khartoum Mr. Gerasimos Pagoulatos, the Committee of the Hellenic Community of Khartoum headed by the Chairlady Dr. Alexandra Pateraki, Representatives of the Khartoum Council of Churches, the local Bishop His Eminence Savvas, the representative of the Coptic Metropolis of Khartoum and others.

The arrival of the Alexandrian Primate was covered by many television channels and newspapers from Sudan.

The Minister on behalf of the Government then welcomed His Beatitude to Khartoum and expressed his joy at his presence. His Beatitude the Patriarch thanked His Excellency the President of the country Mr. Omar al Bashir, the Minister and all who had welcomed at the International Airport in Khartoum, and also did not fail to express his joy on being again in this beautiful land of the Nile, where Christians and Muslims live together in harmony, with absolutely no problem, His Beatitude then met with the representatives of the other Churches with whom he had a first brief contact and discussion, regarding the Christians in Sudan and then he gave an interview to the SUDAN VISION English Newspaper.

Την Παρασκευή, 16η Φεβρουαρίου 2018, κατά την τρίτη ημέρα της Επισκέψεώς του στο Χαρτούμ, ο Μακαριώτατος Πάπας και Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ. Θεόδωρος Β΄, τέλεσε κατ΄ οικονομία, διότι η Κυριακή είναι εργάσιμη ημέρα και θα δυσκολεύονταν οι πιστοί, Πατριαρχική Θεία Λειτουργία, στον Ιερό Καθεδρικό Ναό του Ευαγγελισμού στο Χαρτούμ, συλλειτουργούντων του Σεβασμιωτατου Μητροπολίτου Μέμφιδος κ.Νικοδήμου και του οικείου Ποιμενάρχου Μητροπολίτου Νουβίας κ.Σάββα.

Στο τέλος της Θείας Λειτουργίας, ο Μακαριώτατος αναφέρθηκε στην ιστορική Μητρόπολη της Νουβίας και τον Ελληνισμό του Σουδάν, ενώ στη συνέχεια, έδωσε προς όλους πνευματικές νουθεσίες και ευχαρίστησε όσους παραβρέθηκαν στην σημαντική αυτή για την Μητρόπολη Νουβίας ιερή στιγμή. Τέλος, παρασημοφόρησε τον Επίτιμο Πρόξενο της Ελλάδος στο Σουδάν κ.Γεράσιμο Παγουλάτο και την Πρόεδρο της Ελληνικής κοινότητας Χαρτούμ Δρ.Αλεξάνδρα Πατεράκη.

"This afternoon after a long safari, the Archbishop was invited to join the The faculty and workers of the Orthodox Teachers College. It was a team building event, full of discussions. We later had lunch and the Archbishop praised the team for the good work, and asked that the hard work, continues as a team.. What a blessing to see the bishop proud and happy for his team at the Teacher College.."
