The Theophany celebrations in Cape Town began with the Service of the Royal Hours, which was served at the Cathedral of Saint George on Friday, 3 January. On Sunday, 5 January, and the sanctification of the Holy Water was held after the Service of the Holy Eucharist. Reverend Father Nicholaos Giamourides officiated and the service was conducted in English. His Eminence venerated the Holy Cross and blessed the people, starting with the Clergy followed by Mr Nassos Martalas, president of the Hellenic Community of Cape Town. Great Vespers of Theophany was served on Sunday evening.
