"Η εορτή του Άγιου Ευαγγελιστού Μάρκου στην Ι.Μ Ζάμπιας
Με περίσσεια πνευματικά χαρά και αγαλλίαση εορτάσθηκε η μνήμη του άγιου ενδόξου και Ευαγγελιστού Μάρκου, ο οποίος είναι και ο ιδρυτής της Αλεξανδρινής Εκκλησίας.
Την Τετάρτη 25 Απριλίου 2018 ετελεσθη Αρχιερατική Θεία Λειτουργία στο Παρεκκλήσιο της Ι. Μητροπόλεως αφιερωμένο στο Γενέσιον της Θεοτόκου και στον Αγιο Μαρκο .
Μετά το τέλος της Θείας Λειτουργίας έγινε η λιτάνευση, γύρω από το ναό, της Ιεράς Εικόνας και των Ιερών Λειψάνων του Αποστόλου, τα οποία φυλάσσονται στο Ναό και τίθενται προς προσκύνηση από το λαό.
Στη συνέχεια προς την τιμήν του Αγίου Μάρκου πραγματοποιηθηκε επίσημη εκδήλωση στην οποία προσκλήθηκαν και παρευρέθηκαν ο Υπουργός Δικαιοσύνης της Δημοκρατίας της Ζάμπια κ. Given Lubinda , η κ.Tasila Lungu θυγατέρα του Πρόεδρου της Ζάμπια κ.Edgar Chaqwa Lungu υποψήφια δήμαρχος Λουσάκα . οι πρέσβεις της Ρωσίας , Αιγύπτου , των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών της Αμερικής , Γαλλίας , Ιρλανδίας , Γερμανίας , Ιταλίας ,Ευρωπαϊκής Ενώσεως , Βραζιλίας , Ιαπωνίας , Μαλάουι , Ανγκολας , Ζιμπάμπουε , Κένιας , Γουινέα-Μπισσάου ,Σαουδικής Αραβίας ,Παλαιστίνης ,Ουγγαρίας ο Γενικός Επίτιμος Πρόξενος της Κύπρου ο αποχωρών Αποστολικός Νούντσιο της Αγίας Έδρας στην Ζάμπια κ Julio Murat στον οποίο ο Μητροπολίτης κ.Ιωάννης απέδωσε τιμητικά αναμνηστικό για την άψογη συνεργασία τους ,ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος της Ρωμαιοκαθολικής Εκκλησίας, o Γενικός Πρόξενος της Ελλάδος στην Ζάμπια κ. "The Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa has a history spanning 2000 years. It was established by the Evangelist Mark, whose feast we celebrate tomorrow 25th of April, who became the first Bishop of Alexandria in 43 AD. St. Mark is sometimes called John Mark in the New Testament. Both he and his mother, Mary, were highly esteemed in the early Church, and his mother's house in Jerusalem served as a meeting place for Christians.
St. Mark, the Evangelist, wrote his Gospel in Greek. Tradition says he was asked to record the teachings of St. Peter about Jesus. St. Mark is also said to have traveled with St. Paul and St. Barnabas, who was Mark's cousin, on their missionary journey through Cyprus. It is certain that he died a martyr's death as Bishop of Alexandria in Egypt in 68 AD.
The Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa is the oldest Christian Church in Africa. In an Arab country with long history and tradition, and in a city that reflects the greatness of Hellenism and Greek culture, it has for centuries enjoyed protection, security and esteem both by the Egyptian Government and the Egyptian people. Its head, the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodoros II, has travelled in every corner of Africa and embraced all African as their spiritual father, strengthening their relationship with God and the Christian tradition.
In Zambia, the Orthodox Christian community is multicultural, from a wide variety of national origins: Zambian, Greek, Cypriot, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian, Georgian, etc. In 1968, Archbishop Makarios, President of Cyprus and friend of First Republican President Kenneth Kaunda visited Zambia and baptized the first Zambian Orthodox. The Orthodox Archdiocese of Zambia was formally created out of the historical Archdiocese of Zimbabwe in 2001, during Patriarch Petros Z΄ and Republican President Levy Mwanawasa.
Today, in this historical space, where the First Republican President of Zambia was kept under house arrest for (period?), and is now the seat of the Orthodox Metropolis of Zambia and Malawi, we have gathered to honour (or say farewell to?) our brother and friend Archbishop Julio Murat, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See in Zambia. He devotedly served in this country for 6 years and was loved by all the people of Zambia for his kindness, his humility (simplicity?) and his spiritual guidance. He has brought our two historic Churches, the Roman Catholic and the Greek Orthodox, closer together.
We, do not however have to say “goodbye” because he will continue his mission as a Gospel worker in another part of the beautiful and blessed African Continent, in Cameroon. We do hope that our paths will continue crossing and that we will continue enjoying the blessings of his friendship and wisdom."

Responsibilities and tasks of the Orthodox clergy

Since all of us have tasted the sweetness and uniqueness of the Orthodox Church, it is only natural as well as our duty to want to pull into the Orthodox Church those who are currently out of it, regardless of whether they are idolaters or heretics! How then will we draw the heterodox into the Church of Christ?
The answer is given by Christ Himself on the Cross with His sacrifice. The sacrifice of the leader of our faith is His only sermon against worldly logic/reason since the early Christian period. The sacrifice of the contemporary priest, who is duty bound to perform the bloodless sacrifice of Christ again and again in the history of the world, gives the opportunity for salvation to each one of our fellow human beings by enabling them to have a personal relationship with Christ, which makes him a beacon in the darkness of our time…
When we priests live a pure and holy life, when we know and respect the rules, teachings and doctrines of our Church as well as the commandments of God, when we shed tears of repentance and we humbly call for the mercy of God, when we are suffering for our brothers in other confessions that live in error, then holding the prayer rope, we fervently pray that all the people of the earth will know our Faith, which is the only true faith!
Great and true missionary is not the one who conveys faith with words, but the one who lives it. The one who prays with tears in front of the icon of Christ and the Virgin Mary that God will enlighten all people to return to the Mother Church. The Orthodox Church is open to all people. It embraces and expects everyone to move forward and respond to the call of Christ Himself, thus becoming partakers of this heavenly calling: «Come and see!»
If we pray to Christ this way every day, our churches will be full. It is through repentance and a mighty warm prayer that we will bring them all to Christ. If we live our life partaking of the Holy Mysteries, with sincere confession and Holy Communion, then we will achieve our purpose: to help all people know the true Church.
Unless we have a spiritual father, we will not be able to succeed pure prayer and repentance. We will lose the path that leads to Christ and salvation. It is absolutely necessary for us to go to our spiritual father quite often and honestly confess our sins, our mistakes and our queries. The spiritual father has a threefold role: to hear our sins, to solve our questions and to give advice, guidance and counsel as well as his blessing for what we do in our lives.
Next I will refer to the priest’s duty to his parishioners. It is our big responsibility to keep those who have shown interest in Orthodoxy and to do everything in our power so that those who are inside the Church and are lukewarm, will acquire a living spiritual consciousness.
How, then, can we win souls from the world’s tempest and lead them to the safe harbor of the Church? All the Orthodox priests in our parishes must be active. The morning and evening services (the Matins, the Vespers, the Supplication Canon) should be conducted every day if we want to attract the grace of God. Every night, if every one of us, each one according to their own penance, dedicates two hours praying the rope and making prostrations, this will draw the grace of God. It is this very Grace that will help us and provide solutions to our problems, not our mind or our actions!
Another very important thing is for the priest to have a strong interest in the parish. He should run to the sick, read Orthodox books and have a steady seminar attendance every month. He should neither improvise in his sermons, nor express divergent new opinions that sound good and modern. He should only preach what is confirmed in the conscience of the Orthodox Church and comes from the Holy Fathers; only this can be taught by the Orthodox priests.
Finally, a priest should preach in catechetical schools, organize sports events, games with children as well as various activities, show love and affection to children, be close to the people, comfort and help his flock, and then, the miracle will come and our parish will be full of conscious Orthodox Christians! Amen.

Deux missions d’amour, Congo-Kinshasa

Chers frères au nom de Jésus Christ,
je vous contacte avec grand plaisir, en transmettant ma reconnaissance ainsi que celle de mes frères Congolais pour l’envoi de deux conteneurs d’aide humanitaire de la part de la Fraternité Orthodoxe de Mission Orthodoxe. Dès leur arrivée, une ambiance de fête a été créée avec des danses, des hymnes et des chansons. Ayant un grand enthousiasme les étudiants de notre École de Théologie Orthodoxe ont déchargé et puis ils ont rempli les dépôts vides de la Métropole.
Les deux conteneurs comprenaient des produits nécessaires d’alimentation, des vêtements, des fournitures de bureau, des machines à coudre pour l’école de couture, des lits pliants, des articles ecclésiastiques , des cloches, des livres liturgiques (Octoéchos, Pentecostarion, Triode, Menaion), de diverses icônes, des livres théologiques pour la bibliothèque de l’Université, de l’équipement de cabinet de dentiste, de la matière isolante et beaucoup d’autres choses, tout envoyé avec grand amour par nos frères de Grèce.
Il y a des moments au quotidien où j’entends les étudiants discuter entre eux :
“ Les Grecs nous aiment tellement! On apprend qu’en Grèce il y a une grande crise financière. Ils passent des moments difficiles ! On n’a pas attendu qu’ils aient un cœur si riche, au point de se priver d’eux-mêmes pour nous aider. Que Dieu les bénisse.”
La reconnaissance des étudiants et des fidèles ainsi que de tous ceux que nous aidons ici dans le vignoble de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ vers votre Fraternité est grande.
Déjà après leur arrivée notre collaboratrice Mme Papadopoulou Styliani a organisé avec les étudiants la distribution des vêtements et des chaussures à des pauvres élèves de nos écoles dans la région de la capitale de Kinshasa, alors que des aliments ont été distribués à des familles en aide et aux villages tout autour.
Je glorifie Dieu Trinitaire, qui m’a permis d’être à Son service au fond de la jungle africaine afin de transmettre le flambeau de la vraie foi Orthodoxe à nos frères indigènes.
Un grand merci à sa Béatitude le Patriarche d’Alexandrie M. Theodoros, qui m’a donné sa bénédiction pour que je sois ici au service d’un peuple très éprouvé celui du Congo.
Nous vous remercions de tout cœur et je souhaite que Dieu de bonté vous offre abondamment Ses biens tant célestes que terrestres.

Όσοι ζούμε στις ανεπτυγμένες οικονομικά χώρες είναι αδύνατο να συνειδητοποιήσουμε πως υπάρχουν μέρη του κόσμου, όπου τα αυτονόητα όπως το πόσιμο νερό,το βασικό φαγητόκαι η βασική εκπαίδευσηείναι ακόμη ζητούμενα.
Κι όμως, στην Αφρική, τα βλέμματα των παιδιών, που στερούνται ακόμη και τα πιο αναγκαία, στέλνουν καθημερινά έκκληση για ανθρώπινη συμπαράσταση.
Στόχοι μας είναι η αγάπη, η προσφορά, η αλληλεγγύηπρος τον συνάνθρωπο, η ανακούφιση του ανθρώπινου πόνου, η βελτίωση της ποιότητας ζωήςκαι του μορφωτικού επιπέδου. Επίσης, στόχος μας είναι η στήριξη παιδιώνπου υποφέρουν, ανεξαρτήτως φυλήςκαι θρησκεύματος, γιατί η αγάπηκαι η προσφοράδεν έχουν σύνορα.
Προσπάθεια μας είναι, τη θέση της ανασφάλειας, της απελπισίας, της θλίψης να πάρει η ελπίδα, η φροντίδακαι τα χαμόγελα.

Father Chris and I are good friends. We have our Kansas City mission connection. And I couldn't let him go back home without visiting the mountain (Our DIOCESE)! A Kenyan connection!
He will have the privilege of meeting all the clergy and share the message of the Risen Lord! Here we go!!

Παρουσία Πρέσβεων και εκατοντάδων πιστών, ο Πατριάρχης Θεόδωρος προέστη της πανηγύρεως του Αγ. Γεωργίου παλαιού Καΐρου

Με ιδιαίτερη λαμπρότητα και με τη συμμετοχή εκατοντάδων πιστών, εορτάστηκε η μνήμη του Αγίου ενδόξου Μεγαλομάρτυρος Γεωργίου του Τροπαιοφόρου, στο μοναδικό μοναστικό Ελληνορθόδοξο και πανορθόδοξο προσκύνημα στην Αίγυπτο, στην επονομαζόμενη «Δεύτερη Ροτόντα της Ανατολής», την ομώνυμη Θεοβάδιστη Πατριαρχική Μονή του Παλαιού Καΐρου.
Την Τετάρτη 25η Απριλίου, ο Αλεξανδρινός Προκαθήμενος κ.κ. Θεόδωρος Β΄, συναντήθηκε στην Ιερά Μονή Αγίου Γεωργίου Παλαιού Καΐρου, με τον Εξοχ. κ.Yevgeny Kuyvashev, Κυβερνήτη της περιοχής Sverdlovsk της Αικατερινούπολης (Yekaterinburg), παρουσία του Πρέσβεως της Ρωσικής Ομοσπονδίας στην Αίγυπτο κ. Serge V. Kirpichenko, με τους οποίους συζήτησαν θέματα κοινού ενδιαφέροντος.
Αμέσως μετά, υποδέχθηκε τον Θεοφιλέστατο Επίσκοπο Tσαλίκης κ.Γρηγόριο (του Πατριαρχείου της Γεωργίας), μαζί με συνοδεία Μοναζουσών της Ιεράς Μονής Αγίας Νίννας, υπό την Καθηγουμένη αυτής, οι οποίοι πραγματοποιούν, με την ευλογία του Μακαριωτάτου Καθολικού Πατριάρχου πάσης Γεωργίας κ.κ.Ηλία Β΄, προσκυνηματική περιήγηση στους θεοβάδιστους τόπους της Αιγύπτου.

BRILLIANT CELEBRATIONS AT ST GEORGE OLD CAIRO
With particular brilliance and the participation of hundreds of faithful Christians, the memory of the glorious Great Martyr St George the Victorious was celebrated, in the unique monastic Greek Orthodox and Pan-Orthodox pilgrimage site in Egypt, the so-called “Second Rotunda of the East”, at the God-walked Patriarchal Monastery of the same name in Old Cairo.
On Wednesday 25th April, Theodoros II, the Alexandrian Primate met at the Holy Monastery of St George Old Cairo with His Excellency Mr. Yevgeny Kuyvashev, Governor of the Sverdlovsk region of Yekaterinburg, in the presence of His excellency the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Mr. Serge V. Kirpichenko, with whom they discussed matters of mutual interest.
Immediately afterwards, he received His Grace Bishop Gregory of Agara and Tsalka (of the Georgian Patriarchate), together with a group of nuns from the Holy Monastery of St Nina, guided by their Abbess, who are undertaking a pilgrimage with the blessing of His Beatitude Ilya II Catholic Patriarch of Georgia, to the God-walked places of Egypt.
His Beatitude the Catholic Patriarch Ilya II of All Georgia, responding to a request from the Alexandrian Primate, gave to the Holy Monastery of St George Old Cairo, 2 nuns, in order to help with the work there, in the service of the faithful pilgrims flocking there daily.
On Thursday afternoon, 26th April, the Great Patriarchal Vespers were sung, officiated by His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, the Alexandrian Primate. Present were the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Egypt Mr. Haris Moritsis, the Consul General of Greece in Cairo Mr. George Daskalopoulos, representatives of Greek and Arabic speaking Communities and the Hellenic Scouts.
In his address His Beatitude referred to the Saint, saying that the Great Martyr George is respected and loved throughout the Christian as well as the Muslim world, which is why at the pilgrimage site in Cairo, hundreds of faithful Christians and Muslims flock there to pay their respect to the Saint. He once again expressed his gratitude to Athanasios and Marina Martinos, for their decisive contribution to the restoration and renovation of the Monastery.
On the actual day, His Beatitude the Patriarch officiated at the Celebratory Divine Liturgy together with His Eminence Nicholas Metropolitan of Ermopoulis, His Eminence Nicodemus of Memphis, His Eminence Niphon of Pilousion and Their Graces Gregory of Agara and Tsalka (of the Georgian Patriarchate) and Theodoros of Babylonos.
Present at the worship Gathering were also His Excellency the Ambassador of Greece in Egypt Mr. Michael-Christos Diamessis, the Consul General of Greece in Cairo Mr. George Daskalopoulos, representatives of Greek and Arabic speaking Communities in Cairo as well as the Arabic speaking Scouts.
Immediately afterwards, the procession of the miraculous Icon of the Great Martyr St George too place around the Holy Church, with the participation of hundreds of devout pilgrims.
The normal monastic offering was then given in the Throne Room, during which His Eminence Archbishop Damianos of Sinai arrived, to pay his respects and convey his festive wishes to the Alexandrian Primate.
