Την Κυριακή 18 Φεβρουαρίου 2018 και ώρα 11:00, μια ομάδα από ανθρώπους κάθε ηλικίας συγκεντρώθηκαν με μοναδικό σκοπό την αποστολή βοήθειας στο φτωχό λαό της Μαδαγασκάρης. Το κοντέινερ γέμισε με ρούχα, έπιπλα, εκκλησιαστικά είδη, τρόφιμα και άλλα είδη που χρειάζονται οι συνάνθρωποι μας στη μακρινή αυτή χώρα. Οι ενορίτες του Αγίου Ελευθερίου οδού Αχαρνών με την ευλογία του πατρός Θεμιστοκλή Χριστοδούλου ανασκουμπώθηκαν και όλοι μαζί, μικροί και μεγάλοι, συντόνισαν τις δυνάμεις τους στη σημαντική αυτή αποστολή.

Με τις ευχές και την προτροπή της ΑΘΜ του Πάπα και Πατριάρχου Αλεξανδρείας και Πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ.Θεοδώρου Β΄, Κληρικοί του Πατριαρχείου, συνεχίζουν ακατάπαυστα τις προσκυνηματικές περιηγήσεις στην Αίγυπτο, τελώντας το Μυστήριο της Θείας Ευχαριστίας και Ιερές Ακολουθίες, στις πάλαι ποτέ ακμάζουσες Ελληνικές Κοινότητες της Αιγύπτου, στηρίζοντας και εμψυχώνοντας τους Ορθοδόξους πιστούς της Νειλοχώρας.

Την Παρασκευή 16 Μαρτίου, ο Πατριαρχικός Ιερός Ναός Αγίων Αναργύρων Σούμπρας, με επικεφαλής τον Εφημέριο π.Ιωακείμ Σκρέτα, την υποστήριξη του Ορθοδόξου Πνευματικού Πατριαρχικού Κέντρου Καΐρου, υπό τον Πρόεδρο κ.Γεώργιο Ζουμπουλίδη και τη συμμετοχή πολλών πιστών, ταξίδεψαν στην βορειοανατολική Αίγυπτο, στην δυτική όχθη της Διώρυγας του Σουέζ, όπου πραγματοποίησαν προσκυνηματική επίσκεψη στον περικαλλή Ιερό Ναό Αγίου Μηνά Ισμαηλίας, μίας από τις πλέον ιστορικές εκκλησίες του Αιγυπτιώτη Ελληνισμού στη Χώρα του Νείλου.

Ο μεγαλοπρεπής ναός του Αγίου Μηνά στην Ισμαηλία, ρυθμού τρίκλιτης βασιλικής μετά τρούλου, θεμελιώθηκε στις 11 Νοεμβρίου 1921 και περατώθηκε το 1935.

Την ανέγερσή του ανέλαβε ο Κασιώτης εργολάβος Νικόλας Νικολέτος. Σε μια μαρμάρινη πλάκα είναι χαραγμένα τα ονόματα όλων των ευεργετών όπως και της Α.Μ. του Βασιλέως της Αιγύπτου Φουάτ Α΄. Η αγιογράφηση του ναού έγινε κυρίως από τον αγιογράφο Θεμιστοκλή Ι. Μαρούκη, αλλά και από άλλους, με συνδρομή εράνου του αείμνηστου Κασιώτη Γεωργίου Δασκαλάκη, ο οποίος διατέλεσε πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Κοινότητας Ισμαηλίας.

Ας σημειωθεί πως στην Ισμαηλία, έδρασε μεγάλη Ελληνική Παροικία, από περίπου 3000 ομογενείς, οι οποίοι δούλεψαν στην εταιρία της διώρυγας ή σαν πλοηγοί στο κανάλι, έκτισαν ελληνικά σχολεία και Ναούς. Αργότερα, λόγω των πολεμικών συγκρούσεων στην περιοχή αλλά και το κλείσιμο της διώρυγας για πολλά χρόνια, σταδιακά οι Έλληνες έφευγαν, με αποτέλεσμα σήμερα να ζει μικρός αριθμός Ελλήνων στην περιοχή, οι οποίοι είναι συσπειρωμένοι γύρω από τις δύο εκκλησίες, του Αγίου Μηνά και του Αγίου Γεωργίου.

Εκεί, στον Ιερό Ναό του Αγίου Μηνά, οι προσκυνητές, σε κλίμα κατάνυξης και ευλάβειας, έψαλλαν την Δ΄ Στάση των Χαιρετισμών προς την Υπεραγία Θεοτόκο.

Το Σάββατο 17 Μαρτίου, η Ιερά Μονή Οσίου Σάββα Αλεξανδρείας, με επικεφαλής τους Σαββαΐτες π.Φώτιο και π.Σίλβεστρο, με την παρουσία του Γενικού Προξένου της Ελλάδος στην Αλεξάνδρεια κ.Εμμανουήλ Κακαβελάκη, την υποστήριξη της Ελληνικής Κοινότητος και του Λυκείου Ελληνίδων Αλεξανδρείας, υπό την Πρόεδρο κ.Αλίκη Αντωνίου, πραγματοποίησαν προσκυνηματική εκδρομή στον ιστορικό Ιερό Αγίων Αθανασίου και Κυρίλλου, Πατριαρχών Αλεξανδρείας, στη Μανσούρα, πόλη στην ανατολική όχθη του βραχίονα της Δαμιέττας του Νείλου, στην περιοχή του Δέλτα.

Η Μανσούρα είχε μια ακμάζουσα Ελληνική κοινότητα μέχρι την περίοδο που ανέλαβε ο Πρόεδρος Νάσερ, όταν πολλοί εξαναγκάστηκαν να εγκαταλείψουν τη χώρα. Πολλά από τα παλαιότερα και καλύτερα καταστήματα και επιχειρήσεις της περιοχής, εξακολουθούν να κρατούν τα αρχικά ελληνικά τους ονόματα.

Εκεί, τους υποδέχθηκε θερμά ο Εφημέριος του Ιερού Ναού π.Θεόδωρος Μπαϊούκ και Ορθόδοξοι Αραβόφωνοι πιστοί, όπου ετέλεσαν τη Θεία Λειτουργία. Αμέσως μετά, επισκέφθηκαν το κτήριο της Ελληνικής Κοινότητας Μανσούρας, όπου παρετέθη κέρασμα.

Aξίζει να τονισθεί, πως η Αίγυπτος, στην εποχή του Προέδρου κ.Σίσι, διανύει μεγάλη περίοδο προόδου και ανάπτυξης, με την ανοικοδόμιση νέων μεγάλων πόλεων, στο Πορτ Σαϊδ, το Σουέζ, την Ισμαηλία και αλλού, γενόμενη πόλος έλξης επενδυτών και εργαζομένων, από το εξωτερικό, κυρίως από Ορθόδοξες χώρες. Αυτό, γεννά μεγάλη αισιοδοξία και ελπίδα για το μέλλον της χώρας.

Παράλληλα, το Πατριαρχείο, ανάμεσα στα άλλα έργα που πραγματοποιεί, ξεκινάει την ανακαίνιση του Ιερού Ναού Αγίας Αικατερίνης Σουέζ, ελπίζοντας ξανά στην ακμή της, με την έλευση Ρώσων εργαζομένων, στη νέα βιομηχανική περιοχή της πόλεως.
