Kenya Mission 2017 - Update One
After fifteen long hours of travelling, Father Silouan arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya Thursday, May 11. Met by Father Methodius (St. Barnabas Orthodox Orphanage & School) and Father Constantinos (St. Irene Orthodox Mission Center, Father Silouan was quickly whisked off to see the children who have been waiting and waiting to see him, one of their favorite people.
First stop was St. Barnabas where the children greeted him with smiles and hugs. “We are delighted to have him here,” said Father Methodius. Catechism classes were to be held the next day.

In spite of the long flight, delays and tiredness, Father Silouan was as happy to see everyone as they were to see him, especially the children.

Today by the the grace of God. We were blessed to have 11 baptisms at St Barnabas orphanage and school. I wish to thank all our supporters and donors. Through your prayers and donations we are able to run the orphanage and school. It is in this mission that we are able to spread Orthodoxy. The baptism today are therefore a product of your support for us. For the first time today we had two adult baptisms. Two of our teachers have converted to Orthodoxy. We hope and pray that you will find it worth to continue helping us in this mission. We hope to continue this work and have more conversions. Please Pray for us.

Εγκαίνια Ορθόδοξου Ναού Σάββατο 13 Μαΐου 2017 στην περιοχή Chiradzulu - Malawi
Ο Σεβ. κ. Ιωάννης , με τις ευχές του Πάπα και Πατριάρχου Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ. Θεόδωρου, έφθασε ,σήμερα Σάββατο 13 Μαΐου 2017 στην περιοχή Chiradzulu - Malawi όπου τέλεσε με κατάνυξη και πνευματική ευφορία την ακολουθία των θυρανοιξίων του Ιερού Ναού με τη συνοδεία του ιεραποστολικού κλιμακίου, και με την παρουσία νεοφώτιστων ορθοδόξων από την ευρύτερη περιοχή.
Αμέσως μετά τα ιεράεγκαίνια τελέσθηκε Αρχιερατική Θεία Λειτουργία, κατά την διάρκεια της οποίας έλαβε χώρα η εις Πρεσβύτερον χειροτονία του διακόνου π. Λουκά Nazombe εις Διάκονο χειροτονία του κ.Παΐσιου Tsihikoti
Ο Σεβασμιώτατος απευθυνόμενος προς τον νέο Πρεσβύτερο και τον διακόνο εξήρε την απόφαση τους να εισέλθουν στις τάξεις του Ιερού Κλήρου και να διακονήσουν την Αγία του Χριστού Εκκλησία.
Ο Σεβασμιώτατος επεσήμανε την σπουδαιότητα και τη σημασία της Ιεραποστολής μεταφεροντας και την αγάπη του Μακαριωτάτου Πάπα και Πατριάρχου Αλεξανδρείας.κ.Θεοδώρου Β', με την ευλογία του Οποίου ετελέσθησαν τα ιερά εγκαίνια και οι Δύο Χειροτονίες.

Today Sunday 14th May 2017 after successful election of youth leaders the day before I commissioned them for the great work of our Lord Jesus Christ after Divine Liturgy at our parish St.Porphilios and Charalambos Kapsajon. It was all wonderful. Photo session with my dear dedicated youth. May God bless them to greater heights.

ΚΥΡΙΑΚΗ ΤΗΣ ΣΑΜΑΡΕΙΤΙΔΟΣ ΣΤΟΝ Ι.ΝΑΟ ΑΓ.ΦΩΤΕΙΝΗΣ POINTE-NOIRE
Την Κυριακή της Σαμαρείτιδος, 14η Μαΐου 2017, ο Θεοφιλ. Επίσκοπος Μπραζαβίλ και Γκαμπόν κ.Παντελεήμων ετέλεσε την Θεία Λειτουργία στον ανεγειρόμενο Ιερό Ενοριακό Ναό Αγίας Φωτεινής του προαστείου Mpaka του Pointe-Noire και εκήρυξε τον θείο λόγο.
Προ του πέρατος της Ευχαριστιακής Συνάξεως συνεχάρη την Εκκλησιαστική Επιτροπή για την πρόοδο των εργασιών ελαιοχρωματισμού του Ναού, καθώς και για την αγορά της μικροφωνικής εγκαταστάσεως.
Επίσης, επέδωσε στον Πρόεδρο αυτής κ.Armand-Michel Massa, τον διορισμό του ως Μέλους του Επισκοπικού Συμβουλίου για την χρονική περίοδο 2017-2020 και του προσέφερε ιερά εικόνα της Θεοτόκου σε αναγνώριση των πολλαπλών ευεργεσιών του προς την τοπική Εκκλησία.

ENTHRONEMENT CEREMONY OF HIS GRACE BISHOP OF AROUSA AND CENTRAL TANZANIA
On Saturday 29th April, the eve of the Enthronement of His Grace Agathonikos Bishop of Arusha and Central Tanzania, with the blessing of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Pat4riarch of Alexandria and All Africa and in the presence of His Eminence Dimitrios Metropolitan of Irinopolis, Caretaker of the Diocese, a group of visitors from the Holy Metropolis of Kitros and Katerini, comprising the Very Reverend Archimandrite Maximos Kyritsis, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of St Dionysios in Olympus, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Barnabas Leontiadis, Chancellor of the Holy Metropolis of Kitros, the Reverend Protopresbyter Fr. Angelos Giannikis and the Archdeacon Fr. Panteleimon Tsarapatsanis as well as Monk Marcellus from the Holy Monastery of St Anthony in Arizona, America, in the Missionary Centre of Kidamal in the Iriga district, group baptism took place in the outdoor baptistery of the Holy Church of Ss Andronikos and Athanasia. Specifically, 165 natives were baptized, among whom were many Masai from the surrounding areas. These are moments that remind us of the first Christian years, when you are faced with the enthusiasm and the appeal of faith of those being baptized reflected in their illumined faces. After the baptisms which lasted for four hours, a rich outdoor lunch was hosted for our four hundred brothers and sisters present.
On 30th April, Sunday of the Myrrhbearers, and with the blessing of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, the enthronement of His Grace Agathonikos Bishop of Arusha and Central Tanzania took place at the Holy Church of St Dimitrios in the Hellenic Community of Iriga. The Enthronement took place after the end of the Divine Liturgy and was officiated by the Caretaker of the Diocese, His Eminence Metropolitan Dimitrios of Irinopolis, who read the Greeting of His Beatitude and addressed the newly-enthrone Bishop.

ΣΥΓΚΙΝΗΤΙΚΕΣ ΣΤΙΓΜΕΣ ΣΤΗΝ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΕΙΑ ΣΤΟ ΤΕΣΣΑΡΑΚΟΝΘΗΜΕΡΟ ΜΝΗΜΟΣΥΝΟ ΤΗΣ ΜΗΤΕΡΑΣ ΤΟΥ ΠΑΤΡΙΑΡΧΟΥ
Σε κλίμα έντονης συγκίνησης και με την παρουσία εκατοντάδων πιστών από την Αλεξάνδρεια, το Κάιρο και πολλές περιοχές της Αιγύπτου, πραγματοποιήθηκε την Κυριακή 14η Μαΐου, στην Ιερά Πατριαρχική Μονή Οσίου Σάββα Ηγιασμένου, στην Αλεξάνδρεια της Αιγύπτου, το τεσσαρακονθήμερο Μνημόσυνο της μακαριστής Κλεοπάτρας Χορευτάκη, μητέρας της ΑΘΜ, του Πάπα και Πατριάρχου Αλεξανδρείας και Πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ.Θεοδώρου Β΄.
Ο Μακαριώτατος Πατριάρχης εχοροστάτησε από του παραθρονίου. Του Ιερού Μνημοσύνου προηγήθηκε Αρχιερατικό Συλλείτουργο στο οποίο συμμετείχαν οι Σεβασμιώτατοι Μητροπολίτες Μέμφιδος κ.Νικόδημος και Πηλουσίου κ.Νήφων, ο Θεοφιλ. Επίσκοπος Βαβυλώνος κ.Θεόδωρος, άπαντες οι κληρικοί της Επιτροπείας Αλεξανδρείας και Καΐρου. Στο Ιερό Μνημόσυνο, εκτός των λειτουργούντων Αρχιερέων, έλαβαν μέρος οι Σεβασμιώτατοι Μητροπολίτες Ερμουπόλεως κ.Νικόλαος και Κυρηνείας κ.Χρυσόστομος, από την Εκκλησία της Κύπρου.
Παρέστησαν ο Γενικός Πρόξενος της Ελλάδος στην Αλεξάνδρεια κ.Εμμανουήλ Κακαβελάκης, οι Πρόεδροι των Ελληνικών και Αραβοφώνων Κοινοτήτων της Αλεξάνδρειας, του Καΐρου και του Πηλουσίου, Πρόεδροι και εκπρόσωποι Συλλόγων και Σωματείων των πόλεων και πλήθος κόσμου.
Τον θείο λόγο εκήρυξε ο Πατριαρχικός Επίτροπος Αλεξανδρείας, Σεβασμιώτατος Μητροπολίτης Άκκρας κ.Νάρκισσος, ο οποίος αναφέρθηκε δι’ ολίγον στο πρόσωπο της μακαριστής Κλεοπάτρας Χορευτάκη και μεταξύ άλλων είπε: «...Η αείμνηστος μητέρα του Μακαριωτάτου Πατριάρχου μας και μητέρα όλων μας, υπήρξε υπόδειγμα μητέρας, αφοσιωμένης στην αποστολή της, Αρχόντισσα και ευγενής εις το έπακρον, προσηνής, φιλελεήμων, ταπεινή και αφοσιωμένη στην οικογένειά της την οποία, με τις δυσκολίες της πρόωρης χηρείας που αντιμετώπισε, υπηρέτησε υποδειγματικά με ήθος, ως υπόδειγμα μητέρας, έως και την ημέρα της αναχώρησής της για την Ουράνια Βασιλεία του Θεού...».Στην συνέχεια, αναφέρθηκε στην προσωπικότητα της εκλιπούσης τονίζοντας πως αναλώθηκε στην αγάπη του Θεού, στην θυσιαστική αγάπη της οικογενείας της, γι΄ αυυτό και ο Θεός την αξίωσε να αντικρίσει και να καμαρώσει ως Πατριάρχη στον Θρόνο του Αγίου Μάρκου, τον υιό της.
Μετά το Ιερό Μνημόσυνο παρετέθηκε κέρασμα στο Αρχονταρίκι της Μονής, ενώ στην συνέχεια ο Μακαριώτατος Πατριάρχης παρέθεσε γεύμα προς άπαντες τους παρευρισκόμενους Κληρικούς και λαϊκούς, στην Ελληνική Ένωση, εις μνήμην της μακαριστής μητέρας του.
Της αειμνήστου μητρός Κλεοπάτρας Χορευτάκη, αιωνία η μνήμη!
