Με τη συμμετοχή του Οικουμενικού Πατριάρχη ο οποίος μίλησε σε ένα ευρύ κοινό, ξεκίνησαν σήμερα το πρωί στο Κάιρο οι εργασίες της Διεθνούς Διάσκεψης για την Ειρήνη του ιδρύματος Al-Azhar, με τη συμμετοχή εκπροσώπων του θρησκευτικού, πολιτικού και ακαδημαϊκού χώρου από διάφορα κράτη.
Κατά την ομιλία του, ο Πρώτος τη τάξει της Ορθοδοξίας εστίασε την ομιλία του στη σημασία που έχουν οι θρησκείες και ο διαθρησκειακός διάλογος στο σημερινό κόσμο.

The tournament has took us 3 day in Magogo subcounty Kumuli District. We thank the Almighty God for the wisdom, protection and through out the seminar. We also thank Our beloved Archbishop Jonah Lwanga of Kampala and all Uganda for His blessings to do this work of God. We also thank people Magogo village ... for hosting us and for the good hospitality to enable us accomplish our mission. And we are much grateful to our brothers Bwamiki Young stars who won the tournament and other teams for enthusiasm and good participation and good work done for promoting youth talents andevangelization for the growth and development of Youth ministry in Uganda Orthodox church. Ως το μεγαλύτερο γεγονός μετά τα προπερσινά θυρανοίξια του Αγίου Γεωργίου παλαιού Καΐρου, χαρακτήρισε ο Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ. Θεόδωρος, την επίσκεψη του Οικουμενικού Πατριάρχου κ. Βαρθολομαίου, ο οποίος έγινε δεκτός με τιμές από τις εκκλησιαστικές και παροικιακές αρχές σε αυτόν τον ιερό χώρο, που θεωρείται η «Ροτόντα» της Μέσης Ανατολής, και όπου σύμφωνα με την εκκλησιαστική παράδοση κατέφυγε η Αγία Οικογένεια για να γλυτώσει από την οργή του Ηρώδη, ενώ σε αυτόν τον χώρο μαρτύρησε ο Άγιος Γεώργιος.

Την Παρασκευή 28η Απριλίου 2017, η ΑΘΜ ο Πάπας και Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ.Θεόδωρος Β΄, επεφύλαξε θερμότατη υποδοχή προς την ΑΘΠ τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο Κωνσταντινουπόλεως, Νέας Ρώμης και Οικουμενικό Πατριάρχη κ.κ.Βαρθολομαίο Α΄, στην Ιερά Μονή Αγίου Γεωργίου, στο Παλαιό Κάιρο.
Ο Οικουμενικός Πατριάρχης επισκέπτεται την Αίγυπτο, με αφορμή την συμμετοχή του στις εργασίες της Διεθνούς Διάσκεψης για την Ειρήνη, του Ιδρύματος Al-Azhar.
Στη λαμπρή υποδοχή του Οικουμενικού Πατριάρχου στην ιστορική Μονή, παρίσταντο οι Μητροπολίτες Γαλλίας κ. Εμμανουήλ και Αρκαλοχωρίου, Καστελλίου και Βιάνου κ.Ανδρέας, ο Μητροπολίτης Μέμφιδος κ. Νικόδημος, Πατριαρχικός Επίτροπος Καΐρου, ο Μητροπολίτης Άκκρας κ. Νάρκισσος, Πατριαρχικός Επίτροπος Αλεξανδρείας, ο Μητροπολίτης Πηλουσίου κ. Νήφων και ο Επίσκοπος Βαβυλώνος κ. Θεόδωρος, Καθηγούμενος της Ιεράς Μονής. Επίσης, παρευρέθησαν ο κ. Χρήστος Καβαλής, Πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Κοινότητας Καΐρου με Μέλη της Διαχειριστικής Επιτροπής, ο κ.Σάμερ Χούρι, Πρόεδρος των Αραβοφώνων Ορθοδόξων με Μέλη της Αραβοφώνου Κοινότητας, Εκπρόσωποι του Παγκοσμίου Συμβουλίου Εκκλησιών, οι οποίοι βρίσκονται στο Κάιρο με αφορμή το Διαθρησκειακό Συνέδριο, εκπρόσωποι πολλών Σωματείων, Έλληνες και Αραβόφωνοι Πρόσκοποι και πολύς κόσμος.
Ο Μακαριώτατος Πάπας και Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ.Θεόδωρος Β΄, χαρακτήρισε την επίσκεψη του Οικουμενικού Πατριάρχου κ.κ.Βαρθολομαίου ως το σπουδαιότερο γεγονός μετά Θυρανοίξια του Αγίου Γεωργίου Παλαιού Καΐρου, που πραγματοποιήθηκαν προ δύο ετών.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomaios I, at the Holy Monastery of St George in Old Cairo
THE BELLS OF ST GEORGE PEALED JOYFULLY FOR THE ECUMENICAL PATRIARCH’S WELCOME BY THE ALEXANDRIAN PRIMATE.
On Friday 28th April 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, gave a warm welcome to His Holiness the Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomaios I, at the Holy Monastery of St George in Old Cairo.
The Ecumenical Patriarch is visiting Egypt, because of his participation in the deliberations of the International Peace Conference, of the Al-Azhar Foundation.
Present at the brilliant reception for the Ecumenical Patriarch at the historic Monastery, were the Metropolitans of France Emmanuel and of Arkalohori, Kastelli and Viano, Andreas, Nikodimos Metropolitan of Memphis Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo, Narkissos Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, Niphon Metropolitan of Pylousion and Theodoros Bishop Babylonos Abott of the Holy Monastery. Also present were Mr. Christos Kavalis Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Cairo, Members of the Management Committee, Mr. Samer Houri Chairman of the Arabic Speaking Orthodox Community together with Members of the Arabic Speaking Community, Members of the World Council of Churches who are in Cairo for the Interfaith Conference, representatives of many Societies, Greek and Arabic-speaking Scouts and many people.
His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa defined the visit of the Bartholomaios the Ecumenical Patriarch as the most important event after the Inauguration of St George Old Cairo, which took place two years ago.
