ΠΟΙΜΑΝΤΙΚΗ ΕΠΙΣΚΕΨΗ ΤΗΣ Α.Θ.Μ. ΣΤΙΣ ΠΕΡΙΟΧΕΣ AMPANY KAI TOLIARA ΤΗΣ ΜΑΔΑΓΑΣΚΑΡΗΣ

Την 3η Ιουνίου 2015, η Α.Θ.Μ. ο Πάπας και Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ. Θεόδωρος Β’, συνεχίζοντας την ιεραποστολική και ποιμαντική περιοδεία του στην Ιερά Μητρόπολη Μαδαγασκάρης, ταξίδεψε οδικώς στην περιοχή Ampany.
Τον Αλεξανδρινό Προκαθήμενο υπεδέχθησαν ο Περιφερειάρχης και λοιποί εκπρόσωποι των τοπικών αρχών μετά πλήθους ορθοδόξων πιστών. Μετά την καθιερωμένη δοξολογία στον Ιερό Ναό της Αγίας Τριάδος ο Πατριάρχης εγκαινίασε τo νέo Δημοτικό και Γυμνάσιο Σχολείο της Ενορίας αυτής, το οποίο κτίσθηκε με την φροντίδα του Σεβ.Μητροπολίτου Φιλίππων, Νεαπόλεως καί Θάσου κ.Προκοπίου και τη συνδρομή των Χριστιανών της Καβάλας, τους οποίους και ευχαρίστησε για την προσφορά τους.  
Ο Μακαριώτατος μίλησε στους πιστούς  της περιοχής που παράγουν ρύζι, που είναι η βασική τροφή της χώρας καθημερινά, και έδωσε τηλεφωνική συνέντευξη σε ραδιοφωνικούς σταθμούς της Ελλάδος προτρέποντας τους Έλληνες να βοηθήσουν τους Μαλαγάσιους και το Ιεραποστολικό και φιλανθρωπικό έργο που επιτελείται στη χώρα αυτή.
 
 
.Συγκίνηση προκάλεσαν οι εκατοντάδες κάρτες που έγραψαν τα παιδιά απο την Αυστραλία για τα παιδιά της Μαδαγασκάρης. Επίσης ο Πατριάρχης σαν στοργικός πατέρας πήγε στο κοντινό χωριό για να ζήσει απο κοντά τον αγώνα τους για επιβίωση και ευλόγησε την συγκομιδή και τον καθαρισμό του ρυζιού.
Το απόγευμα τις ιδίας ημέρας, ο Μακαριώτατος είχε συνάντηση με τους Σπουδαστές του Σεμιναρίου της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως, οι οποίοι θα είναι οι μελλοντικοί κληρικοί της Μαδαγασκάρης, και τους συμβούλευσε  να καλλιεργούν το  ιερατικό φρόνημα και την αγάπη προς τον άνθρωπο και την Εκκλησία. Επίσης, συζήτησε με την ομάδα αφιερωμένων νέων απο την Κρήτη που με τον πνευματικό τους πατέρα Γέροντα π.Απόστολο θα διακονήσουν στα νέα μοναστικά κέντρα που θα δημιουργηθούν στη περιοχή.
Την επομένη ημέρα, Παρασκευή 4η Ιουνίου, ο Αλεξανδρινός Προκαθήμενος ταξίδεψε αεροπορικώς στην περιοχή Toliara όπου και θα ολοκληρώσει την επίσκεψη του στην Ιερά Μητρόπολη Μαδαγασκάρης με τριήμερη περιοδεία. Στο αεροδρόμιο της Toliara υπεδέχθησαν τον Μακαριώτατο ο Περιφερειάρχης και ο Δήμαρχος της πόλεως, ο Πρωτοσύγκελος της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως π. Πολύκαρπος, λοιποί εκπρόσωποι της Πολιτείας και χιλιάδες πιστοί κρατώντας σημαίες της Ελλάδος και της Μαδαγασκάρης.
 
 
Μετά την Δοξολογία στον Ιερό Ναό του Αποστόλου Ανδρέου ο Μακαριώτατος μίλησε με πνευματικούς λόγους στους παρευρισκομένους πιστούς και τους ευχαρίστησε για την αγάπη την οποία εξέφρασαν κατά την υποδοχή του, ενώ έκανε και ιδιαίτερη αναφορά στον κ.Ευάγγγελο Παριανό, τον μόνο Έλληνα που έχει απομείνει στην Toliara εδώ και εβδομήντα χρόνια.
Το απόγευμα, ο Πατριάρχης επισκέφθηκε το γραφείο του Περιφερειάρχου όπου κατά την συνάντηση ανταλλάχτηκαν σκέψεις για το μελλοντικό έργο της Μητρόπολης Μαδαγασκάρης στην Toliara.

Ώρες στοχασμού και προσευχητικής περισυλλογής στις εσχατιές του ιεραποστολικού αγρού της Μαδαγασκάρης, όπου ο σπόρος του ευαγγελικού Λόγου «πεσών εις την γην» καρποφορεί στις καρδιές των ανθρώπων και «πολύν καρπόν φέρει».
Αυτή η ζωηφόρος και σωτήριος σπορά της εξαπλώσεως του Ευαγγελίου μετατρέπει την άγονη γη των ανθρωπίνων ψυχών σε καινή κτίση, σε συγκρότηση του σώματος της Εκκλησίας, που τρέφεται απο τον Άρτο της Ζωής που είναι η τροφή του παντός κόσμου.

Την Κυριακή της Πεντηκοστής, ο Μητροπολίτης Γουινέας Γεώργιος λειτούργησε στον Ιερό Ναό Αγίων Κωνσταντίνου και Ελένης στη Freetown της Σιέρρα Λεόνε. Κατά τη Θεία Λειτουργία, χειροτόνησε ένα νέο πρεσβύτερο και ένα διάκονο. Ο διάκονος π. Κυριάκος Κομόρα είναι ο πρώτος απόφοιτος της Πατριαρχικής Σχολής Αλεξανδρείας που κατάγεται από τη Σιέρρα Λεόνε και είναι υπεύθυνος για τα κατηχητικά σχολεία και τη νεολαία.
Αμέσως μετά ο Σεβασμιώτατος τέλεσε τη θεμελίωση ενός νέου ορφανοτροφείου, το οποίο θα προσφέρει καταφύγιο, στοργή και θαλπωρή σε παιδιά που έχασαν τους γονείς τους από το θανατηφόρο ιό Έμπολα.
Στην τελετή παρέστη και ο Υπουργός Κοινωνικής Πρόνοιας της Σιέρρα Λεόνε, ο οποίος ευχαρίστησε θερμά την Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία για την πλούσια κοινωνική προσφορά της στη Σιέρρα Λεόνε.

HIS BEATITUDE PAYS A PASTORAL VISIT TO THE AMPANY AND TOLIARA DISTRICTS OF MADAGASCAR

On 3rd June 2015, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexnadria and All Africa, continuing his missionary and pastoral journey to the Holy Metropolis of Madagascar, travelled by car to Ampany. The Alexandrian Primate was welcomed by the District Commissioner and other representatives of the local authorities, together with many Orthodox faithful.
Following the usual doxology at the Holy Church of the Holy Trinity the Patriarch inaugurated the new Primary and Secondary School of this Parish, which were built thanks to the care of His Eminence Prokopios, Metropolitan of Fillippi, Neapolis and Thasos and the contributions of the Christians of Kavala, whom he thanked for their contribution.
His Beatitude spoke to the faithful of the area who produce rice, which is the basic daily food of the country, and gave a telephonic interview to radio stations in Greece, urging the Greeks to assist the Malagasy people and the Missionary and humanistic effort which is being done in the country.
The hundreds of cards written by the children of Australia to the children of Madagascar caused much emotion. Also, as a caring father, the Patriarch went to the nearby village to experience at first hand their struggle for survival and blessed the harvesting and cleaning of the rice.
On the afternoon of the same day His Beatitude had a meeting with the Students of the Seminary of the Holy Metropolis, who will be the future members of the clergy of Madagascar and he advised them to cultivate the spirit of the priesthood and love for mankind and the Church.
He also held discussions with the group of dedicated youth from Crete who, together with their spiritual father Fr. Apostolos will serve in the new monastic centres which will be built in the area.
The next day, Friday 4th June 2015, the Alexandrian Primate flew to the district of Toliara where he will complete his visit to the Holy Metropolis of Madagascar with a three day stay.
At the Toliara Airport, His Beatitude was welcomed by the District Commissioner and the Mayor of the town, the Chancellor of the Holy Metropolis Fr. Polykarpos, other representatives of the State and thousands of faithful holding the flags of Greece and Madagascar.
Following the doxology at the Holy Church of the Apostle Andrew His Beatitude spoke spiritually to the faithful present and thanked them for the love which they expressed during his welcome, and made particular mention of Fr. Evangelos Parianos, the only Greek remaining in Toliara for the past seventy years.
In the afternoon, the Patriarch visited the office of the District Commissioner where during the meeting thoughts were exchanged regarding the future work of the Metropolis of Madagascar in Toliara.

Hours of reflection and prayerful meditation in the furthest reaches of the missionary fields of Madagascar, where the seed of the Gospel Word “which fell on the earth” is productive in the hearts of the people and “brings forth much fruit”.
This life-giving and salvific sowing of the spreading of the Gospel transforms the barren land of human souls into a new creation, into a composition of the body of the Church, which is nourished by the Bread of Life, that is the food of the entire world.

Ι. Μητρόπολη Μαδαγασκάρης: Εγκαίνια κλινικής, Θυρανοίξια Ι. Ναού και Πατριαρχική Θεία Λειτουργία σε αθλητικό στάδιο

Την 6η Ιουνίου 2015 η Α.Θ.Μ. ο Πάπας και Πατριάρχης Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ. Θεόδωρος Β΄, συνεχίζοντας την ιεραποστολική του πορεία στην περιοχή Toliara της Μαδαγασκάρης, εγκανίασε την ιατρική κλινική της ενορίας του Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου, η οποία θα περιθάλπει δωρεάν τα παιδιά της περιοχής αυτής.
Παρόντες στα εγκαίνια ήταν οι εκπρόσωποι της Πολιτείας, οι ιατροί της Κλινικής  και το διδακτικό προσωπικό του παρακείμενου Σχολείου της Ενορίας αυτής με τους οποίους εν συνεχεία ο Μακαριώτατος είχε συνάντηση και συζήτησε μαζί τους επ΄αρκετόν.
Το απόγευμα της ιδίας ημέρας η Α.Θ.Μ. ετέλεσε τα Θυρανοίξια του Ιερού Ναού της Αγίας Ειρήνης, ευχαριστώντας τον Καθηγούμενο της Ιεράς Μονής Παρακλήτου Ωρωπού Αττικής κ.Τιμόθεον, για την δαπάνη ανεγέρσεως του Ναού.
Τέλος, την επομένη ημέρα, 7η Ιουνίου, ο Προκαθήμενος της Αλεξανδρινής Εκκλησίας προεξήρχε της Πατριαρχικής Θείας Λειτουργίας στο αθλητικό Στάδιο μπάσκετ της Toliara, δίνοντας την ευκαιρία να παρακολουθήσουν την ιερά Μυσταγωγία χιλιάδες πιστοί από την ευρύτερη περιοχή και να μεταλάβουν των Αχράντων Μυστηρίων.
Προ της απολύσεως, ο Μακαριώτατος περιεκόσμησε με τον Ταξιάρχη  Σάββα του Ηγιασμένου, τον ομογενή κ.Ευάγγελο Παριανό και λοιπούς ευεργέτες και εθελοντές για την προσφορά τους στην Ιεραποστολή.
Το απόγευμα ο Πατριάρχης ανεχώρησε για την πρωτεύουσα Ανταναναρίβο, ολοκληρώνοντας έτσι το Ιεραποστολικό του ταξίδι στην Ιερά Μητρόπολη Μαδαγασκάρης.

The Yiayas (cucus) received the light of christ and the prayers of underatking church responsibilities.. cleaning the altar, washing the table covers, preparing prosphoro etc.well bishop Neofitos Kongai received some eggs too!glory to God in all things!

Αδελφότητα Ορθοδόξου Εξωτερικής Ιεραποστολής



Ολοκληρώθηκε στις 7 Ιουνίου η 10ήμερη ιεραποστολική περιοδεία του Μακαριωτάτου Πατριάρχη Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ. Θεοδώρου στη Μαδαγασκάρη, την «όγδοη ήπειρο».
Τον Προκαθήμενο της Αλεξανδρινής Εκκλησίας υποδέχθηκαν με ενθουσιασμό ο Σεβασμιώτατος Μητροπολίτης Μαδαγασκάρης κ. Ιγνάτιος, σύμπας ο ιερός κλήρος και ο ευσεβής λαός των Μαλαγκάσι. Επίσης, τον συνόδευσαν στην περιοδεία του και οι μοναχές της Ιεράς Μονής Παναγίας Θεογεννήτριας Κρήτης, που βρίσκονται αυτές τις ημέρες στη Μαδαγασκάρη, για να συμβάλουν στην εδραίωση του μοναχισμού.
Κατά την επίσκεψή του, ο Πατριάρχης εγκαινίασε το νέο Ορφανοτροφείο Θηλέωνστο Andoharanofotsy, που θα στεγάσει 200 άπορα και ορφανά παιδιά. Η ανέγερση αυτού του ιδρύματος ήταν μέλημα και όνειρο του Μητροπολίτη Μαδαγασκάρης εδώ και πολλά χρόνια, καθώς πολλά βρέφη εγκαταλείπονται στους δρόμους, αφού οι γονείς λόγω φτώχειας αδυνατούν να τα σιτίσουν. Η Αδελφότητά μας με τη δική σας βοήθεια υπήρξε συγχρηματοδότης του έργου.
Επίσης, ο Πατριάρχης έλαβε μέρος στην ιερατική σύναξη των Ορθοδόξων κληρικών της Μαδαγασκάρης,συναντήθηκε με τους σπουδαστές της Ιερατικής Σχολής στο Ampany, ενώ επισκέφθηκε και το Προεδρικό Μέγαρο, όπου συνομίλησε με τον Πρόεδρο της Μαδαγασκάρηςκ. Χέρι Ρατζαοναριμαμπιανίνα σχετικά με το πολυσχιδές έργο της Ορθόδοξης ιεραποστολής. Επί πλέον, ο Μακαριώτατος εγκαινίασε τον Ιερό Ναό των Εισοδίων της Θεοτόκουστο Andoharanoftsy, άνοιξε τις πόρτες του πρώτου Ορθόδοξου Πανεπιστημίουτης χώρας στη Manakara, καθώς και ένα νέο Δημοτικό και Γυμνάσιοστο Ampany.
Τέλος, επισκέφθηκε την Toliara, όπου εγκαινίασε την ιατρική κλινικήτης ενορίας του Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου, η οποία θα περιθάλπει δωρεάν τα παιδιά της περιοχής, και τέλεσε τα θυρανοίξια του Ιερού Ναού της Αγίας Ειρήνης. Την τελευταία ημέρα, προεξήρχε της Θείας Λειτουργίας στο αθλητικό στάδιο της Toliara, όπου παρέστησαν χιλιάδες πιστοί από την ευρύτερη περιοχή.

HIS BEATITUDE’S PASTORAL VISIT TO THE HOLY METROPOLIS OF MADAGASCAR HAS BEEN COMPLETED

On 6th June 2015, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, continuing his missionary journey to the Toliara district of Madagascar, inaugurated the medical clinic of the Parish of the Annunciation of the Theotokos which will treat the children of the district free of charge.  
Present at the inauguration were representatives of the State, the doctors of the clinic and the teaching staff of the adjacent Parish School with whom His Beatitude then had a meeting and discussions with them for a length of time.
On the afternoon of the same day His Beatitude conducted the Inauguration of the Holy Church of St Irene, thanking Hegumen Timotheos of the Holy Monastery of the Paraclete in Oropos, Attica, for the costs of building the Church.
In conclusion, on the next day, 7th June 2015, the Primate of the Alexandrian Church conducted the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy at the Basketball Stadium in Toliara, granting the opportunity to thousands of faithful to attend the holy Sacrament from the broader region and to partake of the Holy Sacrament.
Prior to the dismissal His Beatitude awarded the medal of the Commander of St Savvas the Sanctified, to Mr. Evangelos Parianos and other benefactors and volunteers for their contribution to the Missionary effort.
In the evening the Patriarch departed for the capital, Antananarivo, thus completing his Missionary journey to the Holy Metropolis of Madagascar.

On June 7, His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa completed his ten-day-long missionary tour in Madagascar, the “eighth continent.”
The Prelate of the Alexandrian Church was zealously received by His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatios of Madagascar, the whole clergy and the pious people of Malagasy. Along his tour, he was also accompanied my the nuns of Panagia Theogennetria convent from Crete, Greece, who are paying a visit to Madagascar to institute monasticism in the country.
During his visit, the Patriarch inaugurated a new Girls’ Orphanage in Andoharanofotsy, which will shelter 200 destitute and orphaned children. The construction of this foundation has been a concern and dream of Metropolitan Ignatios for many years, since many babies are abandoned in the streets by their parents, who are unable to feed them due to poverty. Our Fraternity thanks to your help has been a financial partner of the project.
Moreover, the Patriarch participated in the congregation of the Malagasy Orthodox priests, met with the students of the Orthodox Seminary of Ampany, while he also visited the Presidential Palace, where he talked with the President of Madagascar Hery Rajaonarimampianina on the manifold work of the Orthodox Mission. Furthermore, His Beatitude inaugurated the Entrance of the Theotokos church in Andoharanoftsy, opened the first Malagasy Orthodox University in Manakara, as well as a new Primary and Middle School in Ampany.
Finally, he visited Toliara, where he inaugurated a medical clinic in the parish of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, which will provide medical care for free to the children of the region, and consecrated the Saint Irene church. On the last day, he conducted the Divine Liturgy in the sports stadium of Toliara, which was attended by thousands of faithful from along the region.

In Northern Uganda, turmoil and war have made life difficult. Over the last 4-5 years there has been progress. The Orthodox Church has been able to provide relief for many in the area.
In northern Uganda, an area that has been decimated by war and is finally becoming more secure, “every day, everywhere you go, people are waiting to become Orthodox”, says Fr. Emmanuel Oruk. So many people want Orthodoxy in northern districts like Lira, Oyam, and Apad that it is difficult to minister effectively to all of them. Fr. Emmanuel, who recently visited the Orthodox Christian Mission Center in St. Augustine, FL., is one priest in the region who has been very instrumental in spreading the faith. After finishing his studies in Athens in 1994, he returned home just as OCMC’s first Mission Team to Uganda arrived to help build a church.
After the catechetical center in Uganda was established in 1995, Fr. Emmanuel was ordained in 1996. In the years that followed there was often political turmoil and war in the north of the country. Fr. Emmanuel notes that these obstacles have made ministry difficult. Over the last 4-5 years, though, there has been renewed hope that the climate will become more stable. The catechetical center has done its part to bring things back together and the Church has been able to provide relief for many in the area.
In Lira, where Fr. Emmanuel serves, a deanery was established through which missions and outreach are coordinated. There are not enough priests in the area, however, leaving many communities without one. Because of this, at least once a year, Fr. Emmanuel and his fellow priests try to travel and reach out to do baptisms where priests are scarce. Many communities still have to gather for services in homes or under trees. Four students from the Lira deanery are about to complete seminary training, with the intention to be ordained and serve the people.
In Oyam, there is a school serving primary through 6th grade, and they are hoping to add 7th grade soon. Some students there are orphans who come into the care of the Church. The school is still under construction, and they are working on developing a dormitory. There is a well being drilled at the school to provide water for the nearby area. It is hoped that this school will develop successfully and be a model to inspire others of all that can be done by local communities.
In Apad, a church is being built with funds from Greece, and sewing machines have been donated for women there. There is so much progress, so much for the people to look forward to, and many new opportunities arising as the Orthodox Faith spreads throughout the region.
There is a deep appreciation for the help that the OCMC offers the people of northern Uganda – working together, sharing together, and helping them to move forward. However, there is also a drive to become more self-reliant in whatever small ways they can. As Fr. Emmanuel says, “Yes, we are poor, but we have to lift ourselves up through a life of sacrifice. We need to have the spirit of sacrifice.” Every community is now sharing something small with the local catechists- soap, or a bag of sugar- out of inspiration to help themselves grow and move forward together. By working with the OCMC, they are learning new ways to do things and what contributes to success, and those things can be shared throughout the country.
